Proactively managing a portfolio of work assignments (Over $5 billion) and reporting to General Manager - Contracts and Commercial, handling responsibility of:

• Review and negotiate the EPC and concession agreements with the stakeholders
• Draft and issue subcontracts, consultancy, and service agreements;
• Review tender documents including terms and conditions and identifying the risks and opportunities;
• Provide the required contractual support, assistance and advice on all aspects of contractual activities covering claims, variation and payments;
• Identify, analyze and develop responses to contractual matters;
• Coordinate and implement cross project contracting knowledge to add value and minimize cost and risk to projects;
• Develop the projects contracts administration procedures from drafting till close-out;
• Participate in and contribute to the development of project contract strategies and plans;
• Interface with Project Management, Engineering, Project Controls, Proposal and Tender, and Legal, Tax, Treasury, HSE, QA/QC and other stakeholders as required.

Al Layyah Combined Cycle Power Plant (Capacity of 1, 026 MW) for Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) - with an EPC Contract Value exceeds USD 600 Million

Achievements:
Islam has successfully managed agreements worth AED 500M with high reputable international sub-contractors/consulting firms, whereas during such, Islam has negated subcontractors' claims worth AED 75M with strong and vibrant contractual determinations where he was able to secure the withdrawal of such claims through executing amendments to the subcontract agreements.

In addition, Islam was responsible for managing the contractual matters of the Consortium Partner (Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems - MHPS) securing, protecting and maintaining ELSEWEDY's rights whereas a significant positive net amount was substantially proven due.

In respect of Main Contract, Islam was able to secure an EOT of 14 months from the client after preparing, submitting and negotiating a fully detailed claim of various delay events.

Duties:
• Review, analyze, coordinate and reply to contractual correspondences with subcontractors, client, consortium partner;
• Assist and review the preparation of RFP/RFQ for certain major packages and lead the commercial negotiations during tender phase with subcontractors;
• Conduct and manage weekly meetings with subcontractors for discussing, negotiating commercial issues in coordination with project management team;
• Review and certify subcontractors’ invoices and review payment status;
• Responsible for subcontract and main contract closeout procedures including the necessary coordination with other teams until issuance of the TOC and FAC;
• Responsible for reporting the overall project contractual status (invoices, payments, claims, VOs, amendments, conflict resolution…etc.);
• Review and ensure timely updates of all contract administration logs and project contracts reports including areas of concern, contract financial status, VO status, claims status, etc...
• Initiation of claims/counterclaims, identification of claim events, preparation of claim statements and notices, ensure the proper contemporary records are maintained;
• Liaise with the cost control team re budgeting of subcontracts and variations;

Ensured effective contract cradle-to-grave performance by interpreting contract requirements, managing risk and monitoring execution and delivery of EGP 7.5 billion
contracts while handling responsibility of the following:
- Draft and finalize Technical Contract Agreements;
- Draft and finalize Corporate Contract Agreements (such as Marketing, IT, PR, Strategy and Market Research Agreements);
- Review Tender/Contract Documents and provide Contractual Risk Assessment for certain packages;
- Coordinate the Contracts Follow-up Log on a daily basis;
- Develop and enhance the department forms such as Corporate Purchase Order, Technical Purchase Order, FIDIC Short Form Agreement, FIDIC White Book Agreement, FIDIC Red Book Agreement and other Ad-hoc Agreements;
- Oversee the drafting and finalizing processes of Tender Documents related to Land Acquisition - Business Development;
- Undertake the Procurement processes for Insurance packages such as Contractors All Risks (CAR) and Property Insurances.

Providing project management, contracts administration and claims management consultancy services during the for Team Five General Contracting, achieving successful completion of several projects across Al-Ain and Abu-Dhabi, UAE.

Grand Egyptian Museum Project

Duties:

- Draft Claims to be submitted to the Engineer/Employer;
- Draft Statement of Case (SOC) for raised disputes to be submitted to the Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB);
- Support in drafting Written Open Statements (WOS) and Closing Statements;
- Attend Hearings for raised disputes;
- Create and update a detailed log of all Delay Events;
- Create and update a detailed log of all raised disputes/referrals
- Coordinate with other Project departments & attend negotiation meetings;
- Attend & participate in the Contracts & Claims Department monthly meeting

For a period of 8 months (Jan.2015 to Aug.2015), I was delegated to be the Contracts Administrator for Alico Egypt (Subsidiary from OCI) at the Grand Egyptian Museum Project

Duties:

- Administer Contracts, Subcontracts & other Agreements to ensure compliance with liable terms and conditions (i.e. submission of Notices & Claims within permissible time frame);
- Coordinate with other Project departments & attend negotiation meetings;
- Draft correspondences, and ensure they are drafted and submitted in a professional/contractual manner;
- Prepare Agreements for Subcontractors and Suppliers;
- Support and follow‐up in the preparation and quantification of Variation Orders;
- Support and follow‐up in the preparation and quantification of Claims;
- Ensure ample quality of documentations has been developed to support our Claims and Variation Orders;
- Consult and update the Project Manager and Head Office Manager/Senior on regular basis regarding important Contractual/Commercial issues;
- Submit “Contract Administration Monthly Report” to Head Office Manager/Senior at the end of every month;
- Keep a log of all contractual letters, Claims, and Variation Orders;
- Keep a log of all Payment Certificates/Received Payments, and any related defaults by Clients/others.

Working as a part of a busy team taking responsibility of several projects at different stages with a value exceeds 1.5 billion EGP.
