As Marine Supervisor, it was my duty to attend the morning drilling meetings to know the required materials before coordinating with the contractors and suppliers to receive and load these materials on board the supply boats and to issue relevant cargo manifests. It was also my role to provide the required bunker for the supply boats, track the exported/ imported materials, and supervise and coordinate the movements of supply boats.
I was also involved in marine accidents and incidents investigations and performing audits on boats’ performance and was responsible for marine related inspections, such as On/Off-hire inspection, on-site inspection of offloading tankers and vetting inspection. I was also a member of the emergency response team.

First Marine Inspector at Libyan Maritime Administration and Tripoli port

As First Marine Inspector it was my role to survey Libyan ships to issue required certificates concerning safety & marine pollution, inspect and survey foreign ships exploring Libyan territorial waters to issue work permission, investigate safety and marine pollution accidents and notify relevant authority and issue paperwork, as well as endorse competent certificates and issuing personal work permission in Libyan Ports. Also insure all ships calling Tripoli port are safe and have good stability before sailing.

Safety & Navigation Officer at General National Maritime Transport Company

My main duties as a high seas navigation officer on passenger, general cargo and tanker ships were keeping watch from the bridge in watches (shifts), determining the position of the ship and other vessels and obstructions by using the available navigational aids. It was also my role to update charts and other nautical publications, ensure that all necessary documentation had been completed, prepare passage plans, charts and courses, as well as observe and record the ship's course and any alterations, weather conditions and the ship's position in the daily logbook.
Additionally, my duties at ports are: aiding in ship’s mooring, preparing the ship for cargo handling operations, coordinate cargo loading and discharge operations, ensure the imported and exported cargo is in good condition and without any discrepancies, helping in stowage plan preparation, supervising cargo distribution according ship’s stowage plan, supervising cargo lashing and maintain ship’s stability. I also ensured all safety and security measures were in place as per the related conventions and codes, performed any required maintenance that could not be done during sailing time, liaised between the captain/master and deck department crew members, and I supervised the work done by the crew on a daily basis
While acting as a navigation officer, I was also responsible for the safety and health care on board. In this aspect my duties were ensuring all safety regulations were observed, performing the routine inspection and maintenance of fire fighting equipment and systems as well as life saving appliances. I also performed designated safety/firefighting drills, prepared the medical order list and ensured all the requirements of the ship’s Medical guide were available. It was also my duty to provide medical and/or first aid treatment for the crew.
