Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is Qatar’s premier not-for-profit health care provider. HMC manages eight hospitals and operates both the national ambulance service and a home healthcare service. The combined workforce of HMC is 26, 000 staff.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Restructuring of the Security Department, bringing it up to international standards of best practice.
• Setup of 4 new security departments in 4 new hospitals.
• Develop and implement a violence prevention program to safeguard staff from workplace violence.
• Greatly enhance the capabilities of the security department with the introduction of modern day security technology, electronic systems and tetra communication systems.
• Develop and implement a security incident reporting system.
• Develop and roll out a development program for Qatari security staff.
• Develop and implement security master plan for current functional hospitals and facilities.
• Integrate security activities and responsibilities in the organisation, moving security away from a reactive department to a proactive department that adds to the success and value of the corporation.

SECURITY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate, initiate, implement and supervise all HMC security operations across the 12 hospitals with a combined workforce of 1300 security staff (in-house security offers as well as contract security guards)
• Provide strategic direction to all the hospital security departments that is aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Direct and manage the physical security protection program for all HMC locations.
• Manage hospital security programs, analyse data, identify trends and establish KPI’s.
• Review all serious security incident reports; take necessary actions; compile follow-up reports to the hospital CEO’s.
• Manage the supply chain and logistic security.
• Make recommendations to senior management on staffing needs, budgeting data, and purchase recommendations.
• Hire, train, and evaluate security personnel.
• Establish department standards, guidelines and objectives and maintains administrative processes.
• Conduct vulnerability, threat and physical security risk assessments and security audits across the corporation.
• Prepare RFP for security tenders and review and approve tender submittals.
• Review (design drawings and equipment specs) of CCTV and security systems installation.
• Driving the effective delivery of multi-year, multi-million dollar security projects to achieve the strategic and operational plans.

HSE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Committee member of hospital based Facility Safety Management Committees.

Safety / Security Manager at Mafraq Hotel

Mafraq hotel is an independent 4 star, 250 room’s property, owned and operated by The National Investor (TNI), a privately owned regional investment, and merchant banking group.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Setup of the Safety and Security Department.
• Hotel was operational during an extensive construction and renovation program and no incidents of theft or other security incidents were reported by visitors during the 2 year period.
• Project management of the IP CCTV system. The system was installed ahead of schedule, below cost and was approved by the MOI upon the first inspection.
• Caught serial thieves who had 30 criminal cases against them (from other hotels in the UAE).
• Developed, implemented and certified the hotel to the OHSAS 1800, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards.
• Reduced incidents of violence and fights in the bars by 80% through the implementation of the holistic security program.
• Detected extensive fraud among outlet staff. Presented detailed investigation report to the General Manager that led to a complete change in the financial policies and stock control and inventory methods.

SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Investigated accidents, thefts, property loss, and unlawful activities.
