I underwent apprenticeship training from January 1988 to January 1992 at Cochrane Engineering in Zimbabwe in the mechanical engineering trade of Fitting and Turning Including Machining. After two years stint as a hands on tool room and workshop fitter and turner I left to join Zimbawe Phosphate Industries in September of 1994.I rose from a machine shop and plant fitter and turner to a charge hand and finally to plant mechanical superintendent. My duties cut across machining, milling, stripping and reassembling of plant machinery, reading and working to engineering drawings to budgeting, planning, controlling, managing and evaluation of human and material resources in a sulphuric acid and superphosphates manufacturing plant.I was a key figure in the design of, implementation of and adherence enforcement to ISO certification standards at ZimPhos. These were ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 1401(Environment) and ISO 1801(Occupational Health).
I left Zimbabwe Phosphate Industries in March 2010 on voluntary retrenchment.I went Democratic republic of Congo on two occassions to refurbish a sulphuric acid manufacturing plant at Tenge Fungurume. The rest of the time I was doing my degree programme in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering which I deferred due to financial constraints at the end of my second year.
In January 2013, I joined Allied Equipment and Engineering as Technical Manager for southern region of Zimbabwe. This entailed looking and negotiating for contract jobs in machining, metal and fibre glass fabrication and hydraulics repairs mostly in mines.I was promoted to Operations Manager a post that I hold up to now.I'm responsible for running all the engineering related issues of my company's three branches, budget controls and evaluation of business and all other resources.
I was the best practicals student in 1990 and was awarded an engineering text book written by Hanna and Hillier. NB. I also enrolled for a Bachelor of Technology Degree programme in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Harare Institute of Technology in 2010.I managed to go up to 2nd year and I defered due to financial constraints.
