; water and waste water treatment technician
RESPONSIBILITIES;
* Determining the processing requirements, sampling the influent and effluent at various stages of
processing and identifying problems and ensuring proper and efficient operation of the treatment
plant for proper disposal of effluent as stipulated by WHO standards.
* Serving as back-up ORC (operational research consultant) for the well system, distribution system or
ORC for the wastewater sludge supervisors and the general public. Operating, monitoring, inspecting
and maintaining equipment and processes at the waste water treatment plant and the water system
in a safe and efficient manner while satisfying the requirements of customers, clients, and regulatory
agencies
* Assisting with installation of new and replacement of fire hydrants and their appurtenances and
repairing, maintaining and operating water treatment and distribution facilities and responsible for
the proper use and care of hand tools and knowledge and use of the company’s safety policies and
procedures and performing preventive maintenance, housekeeping tasks, and inspections as
assigned.
* Making regular tours to wells and treatment plants and checking pumps, generators, filters,
clarifiers, chlorinators, and other equipment’s for proper functioning and taking samples and
performing various tests for proper chemical feed adjustments as necessary, making records of
inspections of wells and other system points.
* Monitoring processes/equipment’s to ensure efficient operations by taking samples required for
process control and regulatory reporting purposes, recording and logging flows, visually inspecting
tanks, levels, pump speeds and recording information in logs and reports
* Performing general preventive and scheduled maintenance and assisting on major maintenance and
repairs, making repairs and/or replacing water lines, pumps, motors, meters, hydrants, and valves,
locating and marking water lines for other contractors.
* Meeting guidelines and requirements applicable to water and wastewater treatment facilities.
* Providing thoughtful and thorough analysis, Listening, communicating and working effectively with a
diverse group of people.

POSITION; MASTER WATER/WASTE WATER TREATMENT TECHNICIAN
RESPONSIBILITIES;
* Controlling water treatment vending units and equipment’s that are used to purify and clarify the water
for human consumption through reverse osmosis process
* Repairing/lubricating the vending units and equipments
* Cleaning tanks, filter beds and changing out filters and RO membranes as required
* Installing, servicing and repairing the vending units
* During installations, connecting water pipes and electrical wires and ensuring the installations are
compliant with plumbing, electrical and sanitation codes and standards
* Maintaining vending inventories/ordering repair parts and keeping service records
* Operating and controlling electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate the flow of water into the
treatment plant
* Repairing and servicing all the machine components i.e., pumps, motors, electrical parts and plumbing
parts
* Applying specified amount of chemicals into the water, adjusting the automatic devices that admits
specified amt of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize and clarify water and manipulate valves
to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities
* Take a sample of water from the local plant areas to carry out tests of PH, TDS, NTU, FAC and
conductivity regularly and records it in the logbook to ensure that the water supplied is suitable for
membrane Testing for toxicity of wastewater streams prior to biological treatment
* Biological, chemical and physical treatments of water and wastewater
* Performance of flocculation, coagulation, settling and flotation tests
* Water, wastewater, seawater and effluent analysis
* ZLD - Zero level discharge - concentration of effluents and water recovery by evaporation
* 3000GPH and 600GPH reverse osmosis water purification unit (Rowpu) operation and maintenance
* Hourly monitoring of potable and non potable water at points of issue, points of production to ensure
water quality complies with TB MED 577 standards
* Disinfection of water at points of production to ensure it complies with laid down specifications
* Calibration and verification of various water testing equipments e.g., PH meter, TDS
meter.Turbidimeter, Colorimeter as per their specific desk operating procedures
* Water point daily preventive maintenance checks for distribution, raw, booster, feed, c.i.p pumps and
bladders/tanks (visual inspection, leaks, noises, wiring etc)
* Storage of potable and non-potable water in bladders and tanks, monitoring of bladders and tanks
heights and testing of the stored water
* Daily water distribution to various points of use by water trucks and trailers, trucks inspections to
ensure they meet water distribution standards• Checks the plants condition by the operation system to
ensure safety of the plant.
* Take a sample of water from the local plant areas to carry out tests of PH, TDS, NTU, FAC and
conductivity regularly and records it in the logbook to ensure that the water supplied is suitable for
membrane. Carries out water distribution by pumping water to other areas to maintain a level in the
storage tanks.
* Checks the chemical dosing systems by measuring the tank level and detecting for any tank leakage
to ensure it is functioning normally. Carries out filter and membrane chemical cleaning.
* Carries out chemical treatment for the Reverse Osmosis unit / membrane to reduce Delta pressure.
Ensures that emergency situations/breakdowns are attended to immediately and appropriately and
informs Operations Supervisor (Desalination) control to receive instructions.
* Performs other similar or related duties as and when assigned by the Operation Unit Head

* Having daily contact with the Supervisor to receive work directions, discuss/ resolve issues, guidance
and approval.
* Having daily contacts with Colleagues to receive work directions, exchange information, discuss /
resolve issues and work coordination.
* Doing chemical storage inventory, handling and disposal of various chemicals according to their
various material safety data sheets (msds
* Reverse Osmosis Plant Operation
* Generation of purified water for Pharmaceutical use on demand
* Monitoring of system parameters i.e. ORP, Ph, TDS, EC, Hardness, Temperature, Chlorine Level
and Data logging.
* Regeneration of softener and backwashing of multimedia and filter.
* Cleaning of ultra-filtration and reverse osmosis membranes by approved cleaning methods /
protocol.
* Preparation of dosing chemicals for pH adjusting, Dechlorination and scale inhibition purposes
* Sanitation of the system by either chemical or thermal methods / approved protocols.
* Physical water analysis and record keeping
* Preparation and standardization of laboratory reagents
* Maintain inventory of laboratory equipment to ensure functionality & safety
* Distilled water and dematerialized water quality analysis .
