SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE AND LIVELIHOODS
Duties: Increasing Food Security and Resilience to Climate shocks through managing and
monitoring of the TROCAIRE funded programme in Gwanda District.
a) Implementing improved Techniques and principles of Smart Agriculture.
b) Promoting Solar powered Gardens
c) Promoting small livestock production,
d) Facilitating market linkages through income generating activities
e) Improving Rural Communities through Disaster Risk Reduction preparedness and mitigation projects.
Managing two programmes in supporting the poor and most vulnerable communties in the Gwanda District of Zimbabwe.
Implementing Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) projects with emphasis on the three components
a) Sustainable Agriculture and Food security
b) Risk Management policy and Practice
c) WASH
Ø Conservation Farming
Ø Organic Agriculture
Ø Nutritional Gardening/ Low Income Gardening
Ø Small Livestock production.
Ø Keeping professional relationships with different stakeholders such as Government ministries,
Faith based Organisations, local leaderships among others.
Ø Promoting Agribusiness production and increasing long term food security
Ø Promoting Entrepreneurship and Agribusiness Development
Ø Facilitate matching grants for upgrading existing projects and new and promising business
ventures through the Small Investment Grants.
and activities executed
Ø Running of the Organization’s PRP project activities in the three wards of Lupane District (Mzola west,
Sibombo and Tshongogwe) where I acted as the focal person and coordinated technical activities.
Ø Sustainably increased incomes, reduced malnutrition, developed inclusive business models and
strengthened private sector partnerships with local small holder farmers.
Ø Implemented some small income generating projects such as ISALs in all interventions.
Ø Facilitated community field workshops, training workshops, look and learn tours, and meetings on technical
courses such as agriculture and food science, post-harvest and food processing, and also participated in
surveys, need assessments samplings, baselines to ensure effective targeting the intended beneficiaries in
the operational wards and the interventions activities included but were not limited to;
INTERVENTION: CONSERVATION FARMING (Both Mechanized and Basin CF) 180HHs
· Implementing CF Techniques (promoting both mechanized and basin techniques)
· Conservation of Wet Lands through apiculture production
· Promoting live mulching and mixed farming
· Incorporating Agro-Forestry Techniques
· Empowering communities through supporting the benefiting households with voucher redemption system
for agro-inputs and provided some technical support on capacity building courses so as to induce
knowledge on the locals to alleviate poverty through crop farming as well as being the exit device.
· Supporting the local Agro-dealer by helping them with the 10% claim for the voucher redeemed,
· Closely working with the Agricultural Extension Officers in the process of project implementation,
· Mobilization, Identification, registration and verification of households benefiting from the projects, and using
database for distribution of inputs and during training workshops,
· Training of benefiting local farmers in each and given intervention and also training of partners,
· Monitoring of such works as implementation activities of the projects and doing some project evaluations.
· Activity report writing- weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and reporting complex issues to the Field
Officer as a way of Programme management tool.
INTERVENTION: APICULTURE (BEEKEEPING) and Small livestock production 171HHs
· Furnishing community households with enough know how on Apiculture as they are a part of the
ecosystem and also regarded as the small livestock production.
· Mobilizing, identification, registration and verification of beneficiaries
· Initiating some ISALs through monitory and providing of technical support so as to have an improved honey
production in the region,
· Training farmers on bee rearing and benefiting from bee products and construction of Bee Hives.
· Promoting income generating activities through Small Livestock production (Apiculture rearing / Bee-
keeping).
· Helping and encouraging youths to identify income generation activities such as beekeeping projects.
· Facilitating proper planning of programmes and projects to improve results considering seasons.
INTERVENTION
INCLUDED BUT WERE NOT LIMITED TO;
- Extension services with the local communal farmers in Matabeleland North and South regions
of the country.
- Working with the Agricultural Extension workers from the
-Running of the organisation's day to day activity
-Project implementation on the Small Irrigation scheme construction
-Training irrigation farmers on irrigation of different crop production

BSc. Agribusiness, is a four year study programme and completed my fourth year in December 2010 which was my intern year. I graduated and was awarded my degree on the 13 March 2011. I also did some dissertations that I defended at School and was given a score of an -A grade
