• On call duty 24/7 as the ship´s nurse.
• Work hand in hand with ship´s doctor in all medical related problems onboard the vessel.
• Providing medical treatment as ordered by the ship´s doctor.
• Administration of oral and parenteral medications.
• Performing intravenous insertion of catheter for such treatment as ordered by the doctor.
• Responsible for all the medical equipments and supplies with regards to troubleshooting the problem and performing weekly inventory of medications.
• Responsible for daily ph and chlorine water check of all water sources onboard.
• Making monthly requisitions of medications and supplies.
• Documenting all medical related problems onboard.
• Charting all patient´s file manually and electronically.
• Responsible for sending important mails with regards to medical health problems.
• Performing laboratory tests
• Ensured surgical instruments are properly sterilized
• Responsible for charging of onboard medical bills for the patients.
• Second in command for the Medical & Stretcher party onboard.
• Responsible for the condition of all oxygen tanks onboard
• Responsible for all the First Aid boxes located on the different areas of the ship
• Performing follow-up checks on all the patients and reporting to the doctor.
• Coordinating with the medical insurance company for certain cases in which patients need additional treatment on the shore side hospital.
• Administration and Documentation of Cruise Reports, Weekly and Monthly Reports.
• Responsible for proper disposal of medical waste, expired medicines and supplies.
