Provides overall supervision and direction of the assigned library, including participating in development of
long-range plans for program and/or collection development; scheduling and assigning staff; requesting
facility or equipment maintenance services, as necessary; responding to patron complaints; responding to
disturbances or emergencies; and resolving problems and/or contacting emergency response personnel, as
appropriate.
Plans, organizes, administers and coordinates library services in a library; provides for the upkeep and
maintenance of the branch Library building; ensures safe, clean, attractive, comfortable environment for
patrons and staff; and assumes responsibility for the overall safety, condition, cleanliness and soundness of
the building and grounds.
Administers or makes recommendations on personnel matters affecting subordinates, including
interviewing and hiring applicants, assigning, scheduling, appraising, disciplining, etc., and preparing and
submitting various reports and records as required by Library management.
Officiates at Unit Head and branch meetings; participates in Public Service Management Team, committee
and other meetings and task forces; and represents local library interests to Administration and passes on
administration information to staff.
Develops concepts, practices, techniques and innovations to improve the quality, productivity and variety
of library services; attends workshops to acquire new skills and refine and maintain others; tests and
evaluates new products; and conducts surveys.
Conducts use studies, analyzes statistics, performs research and designs measurement tools to meet the
needs of patrons; responds to library objectives and assures responsible use of Library funds.
Assists in developing graphics and signage for Library services; assists in planning regular Library
the Library system.

Works closely with Systems Assistant to maintain library database: reports, global updating, etc.
Manages all electronic resources processes (CD ROM, web access, electronic journal access, library OPAC, and e-books) that provide 53 hours of service each week in the library and 24/7 via the Internet.
Acts as communication conduit for ACS, Inc. City Network Help Desk, recording and following through on all problems reported to her team.
Serves as contract compliance coordinator between software vendor, City IT Services provider, and library.
Manages staff users in library automation system, sets up user parameters within the software, maintains documentation on all library decided parameters, institutes security policies and procedures.
Works with library electronic resources vendors to make selected databases available to Carrollton users and maintains records of use.
Represents library with software vendor, the Library Web Page Committee and other libraries in the area in cooperative ventures.
Manages all general training on the library information system and serves as backup for all departmental training functions.
Manages Electronic Classrooms at all locations.
Implements semi-annual software upgrades from ILS vendor, tests software and trains staff on changes in software procedures.
Trainer/Supervisor
Trains and oversees the Library Computer Support Crew, a group of 10-15 staff members from all over the library who have volunteered to learn more about our computers and the library/city network in order to facilitate the work for both patrons and staff.
Contributes to the evaluation of Preservation Clerk, Senior Bibliographic Services Assistant, and other members of the Library Computer Support Crew annually.
