I joined Brown Shipley in 2017, bringing my knowledge and experience of constructing and managing investment portfolios for a wide range of clients. Brown Shipley offer a comprehensive wealth management service and I believe the move was a great opportunity to showcase my skills and bring in fresh ideas to the portfolio management (PM) team.
Since moving I have become a vital member within the central PM team, supporting both the Head of PM as well as the CIO, with portfolio analytics, exposure and risk reporting of models and discretionary portfolios. Other duties include:
•Responsible for ensuring client portfolios are aligned with the central models, and ensuring SAA/TAA transitioning across all respective accounts
•Taken on additional portfolio loads from Manchester/London offices, as well as maintaining the external MPS models across third-party platforms
•Ongoing governance of portfolios on the portfolio monitoring side to address outliers
•Support the team more widely through creation of MI and oversight reports, performance packs and alignment monitoring
•I'm the go-to-person for ad hoc requests for data and reports for the wider business
•Provide risk and quantitative analytics in relation to the portfolio construction and PM processes
•Involved with the preparing of the CIO report each month ahead of board meetings
•Support and provide material for front-office updates, as well as client pitches and new business proposals
•Liaise with research team with regards to fund selection and general portfolio construction
•Integrate efficiencies within the portfolio management team
•Bring consistency across different teams and simplify processes
•Contacting private clients and intermediaries via telephone and email
Having previously graduated with the highest honours in Accounting & Finance, I joined Brewin Dolphin in 2010, to work on the newly established portfolio management team. My career began with writing suitability reviews, dealing with ad-hoc requests and ensuring portfolios are managed in line with the clients' investment objectives and risk profiles. In 2012 as my role developed, I was greatly involved with portfolio construction by monitoring and selecting funds, discussing asset allocation calls, maintaining relationships with fund representatives and generating my own investment ideas with a focus on achieving an excellent risk adjusted return.
I obtained the CISI Chartered
