- I returned from Afghanistan in April 2013, after spending 1 year there (Kabul) as a Transport Manager for Supreme Group.

- A global supply chain, working for the Pentagon - functioning as an integrated whole process. Aviation, ground transportation and facilities management teams. We worked together to deliver life-sustaining services when and where they're needed the most. Our total solutions enable mission success for defense, government and commercial energy and sector clients.

- I was responsible for the management and control of all contracted transport in AFG. monitoring movement of all contracted supplies within AFG.

- Coordinating with the Companies in order to ensure the timely deliveries from transporters.

- Daily compliance with Code of Business Ethics and Conduct at all times.

- Full operational control of all contracted transport within AFG. Usually around 70 to 100 trucks per day

- I was also responsible for successful forecasting, control and co-ordination of all transport within Afghanistan for the Company producing a monthly reports.

- Including a detailed weekly plan for the transport contractors of required vehicle numbers by location and route.

- Extremely tough role due to the constant terrorist threats and convoy route relocations due to high volumes of Taliban controlling certain locations. I also needed to be in constant contact with the military who would confirm the safety of certain areas for my drivers.

- Unfortunately I was made redundant from this role and as such I am now looking for a similar role and similar challenges.

My motivation techniques were called upon to drive a failing customer service department. I was to turn the team around by implementing new KPI's and achievable targets and also by providing the team with essential telephone training skills which were lacking, along with creating a more comfortable and motivating environment into such a demanding and stressful area of the business.

This was a very stressful role. I had to combine two areas of the business into one due to a relocation of the business and loss of staff due to redundancies. Combining of the two teams was eventually achieved and cross training was later implemented so as to offer the business, support at all times.
My hard work was recognised for this work, out of the entire Lombard staff force from all across the UK. I was chosen to attend the Royal Bank of Scotland ‘Outstanding achievers’ ceremony held at Celtic Manor for this business procedure I implemented.

I was promoted to this role (first female to be offered the position) here I managed a team of 8 male ex vehicle technicians. I do not claim to be a mechanic, but my ability to run a team, create trust and support within a team enabled me to diversity knowledge further. I found this position challenging and exciting, I managed to gain the respect from a previously difficult to run team alongside changing processes and implementing PDP's into the team. Very enjoyable experience.
I also worked very closely with Blue chip companies and was able to gain buy in from these companies which resulted in further income for our business.
I regularly visited garages throughout the UK to ensure all of our business standards were being adhered to and followed. Also to ensure that work undertaken on our behalf was legitimate and turnaround times were being met and that they were achievable. This created a strong raport with our suppliers which also created a more comfortable access point for these suppliers.
Alongside the day to day running of the department - I was able to speak directly to the manufacturers and organise driving day experiences for my team, in order for them to keep up to date with the latest changes and technology implementations. This proved to be a success and was filtered out to the team over a set time period, so that the team members could attend, but still have back-up in the office to cover workloads. I extended this into the commercial sector also.

    I love rally driving - I myself completed the Lombard Rally (previously known as the RAC rally) which is an endurance race over 4 days. The longest day driving was 18hrs continuous. Very, very challenging and every emotion are tested to its limit. I like to be challenged and I am very competitive. So whatever opportunity I am faced with, I always take it and push myself to be the best.
