Utilising Lean Management practices and principles, Keith's primary function is to ensure profitability for the client setting targets on training methods and personnel development to best control operations and reduce manufacturing costs.
Provides specialist training programmes for client's engineering, production operatives, focusing on the operation. Quality awareness, line disciplines that includes instructions on Health & Safety, staff training, team building, machine and product fault finding & troubleshooting techniques.
Employs a Shop floor approach in his development of personnel, the direct mentoring, encourages a team environment and peoples ownership of the product. Training includes skill improvement, moulding and guiding the team on how to identify root course of line concerns that will minimising waste and downtime, increase output and ultimately build a confident and motivated team.
Implements a SOP system throughout the plant workforce, setting goals, methods and disciplines necessary for the operatives to function and understand the importance of reaching and maintaining consistency of the line operations in efficiency, quality of product, material usage controls and reducing spoilage levels.
Engages with line supervision and operation team to manage the Production forecast programme to set target of daily Production to meet commercial sales projections and control quality and manufacturing costs per unit.
Understanding the importance of feedback to the client, provides periodic assessments and recommendations on the progress of the team, identifying individual skill levels and abilities to best match people & positions within the organisation.

* In 1979 went into contracting, firstly with Mec-A-Tec, initially on changeovers, progressed onto shutdown maintenance, and then onto installations, was given the position of team leader on several installations. In 1993 on a job in Continental Can at Rugby, (an installation), was promoted to supervising 19 men of which were split into three teams on the daily running of the job.
* In late 1995 contracted along with five other men as consultants to start up a new can-making factory in Dammam 2nd City, Saudi Arabia. My remit was to set up the tool room, workshop and train the 12 Filipino workforce and to get the plant up and running.
* During this period of contracting went back to college to get two qualifications, welding and basic industrial electrics. Through the 40+ years in engineering, particularly the years in contracting my skills have multiplied and are now a good all round engineer with good supervisory and managerial skills.

It was said that Marconi Co Ltd apprentices were the best trained in Europe if not the world at the time, of which I have come to believe. It gave me the grounding in engineering that has given me ability to carry on learning and improving my skills. Soon after passing out of my apprenticeship I was approached by the college I went too to see if I would take a position in the engineering department as lecturer.
Wisbech College of Further Education Sep 1994 - Jul 1998 (3 years 11 months) Gained two certificates, one for welding the other for basic industrial electrics, as I had been doing this type of work for some years but had no paperwork or certificates, now an accomplished welder, St St, Ally, Steel using TIG, MIG and MMA. Electrics I can do the basics, changing motors, plugs and some fault finding. IT/Computer Intermediate
