Roles and Responsibilities:
● Assist in managing and leading the department and in coordinated the activities of
the Course Directors, SIS Coordinator and other faculty members
● Act as a role model and supported the staff in identifying the academic needs of the
department and assign/schedule teaching and other duties to faculty members
● Guide, direct, motivate, support and if necessary counsel faculty members, helping
them with any problems related to their courses and classes
● Arrange workshops and seminars for updating faculty members on new andragogy
● Ensure that all staff members are aware of institutional regulations.
● Ensure that Academic Advisors follow up the Coop students during such On Job
Training (OJT) programs
● Arrange special programs, short courses and community programs as required
● Act as a filter for student and teacher requests, complaints and suggestions and
troubleshoot. Provide counseling services.
● Work closely with the Chairman/Director in evaluating staff performance
● Assist in the interview and selection of staff members.

● Manage and lead the academic department to ensure that it runs smoothly
academically, technically and administratively
● Identify the academic needs of the department and assign duties (teaching and
admin) to members of staff to run the programs uninterrupted
● Control and check the teaching material for all courses offered in the department
● Design and develop the curricula/degree plans and all the courses taught in the
department, taking into consideration copyright laws and regulations
● Develop andragogy and methods and present these to faculty members
● Check and approve student grades and recommend remedial classes for weaker
students

● Design the operational plans to develop the department facilities, programs,
activities and identify the needs of the department in terms of staff members,
equipment and other educational materials
● Prepare the department prospectus.
● Interview candidates for vacant positions and make recommendations with regard to
selection of prospective members of staff and faculty members
● Evaluate staff performance in the department
● Recommend career development programs, visits, seminars, special programs, short
courses or scholarships for staff as appropriate
● Develop communication channels with industry as and when appropriate
● Cooperate with other departments with regard to matters of mutual interest.

● Syntheses of novel fatty acid derivatives and study of their spectral properties using

basic techniques.
● Development of analytical techniques to analyze complex mixture of glycerides,
phosphoglycerides, fatty acids and their derivatives using various analytical
techniques such as TLC, Ag+
-TLC, GC, HPLC and other chromatographic and
spectroscopic techniques.
