Tier II - DATA CENTRE MANAGEMENT:
1. The Member of Data Center Design team. Established Tier II-Data Center for NUST SEECS.
2. Deployment of Data Center Virtualization using VMware vSphere 5.5/6 for tier-2 Data Center NUST SEECS.
Installation and configuration of Esxi5.5/6 with vCSA on Dell Blade Center PowerEdge M1000e.
Configuration and Management Esxi Host, networking and storage.
Configuration of Esxi Host Cluster and Storage Cluster.
Configuration of vMotion, HA, Fault tolerance, DRS, Storage DRS, Affinity Rule and Event alarms.
Deployment and management of virtual machines.
Management of Users’ Access using VMware Infrastructure.
Monitoring of resource usage using vCenter Server.
This befitted the organization to utilize the hardware resources in efficient way, reduce electricity consumption of data center and reduce demand of server purchasing.
3. Assisted Huawei team in deployment of Huawei “Fussion Compute/Access” VDI solution in Data Center NUST SEECS. This helped the university to adopt a new technology and replace the desktop machines which saved their annual budget. This also decreased the workload of the IT support team and saved the precious time which they would they spent on installation/repairing of desktop machine, otherwise.
Monitoring of resource usage of Cloud.
Management of higher availability and data protection.
Creating template and assigning VDI to Faculty/Staff and Labs using Huawei Cloud Computing resources in Lab using Thin Client.
Corresponding with Huawei Team to resolve Fussion Computing issues.
Corresponding with Huawei Team for timely upgradation of VDI setup.
4. Deployed and managed Kaspersky Anti-virus management for NUST SEECS. This greatly helps the support team to manage user machine from the server and centrally run the routine checkups. All the tasks now can be managed centrally such as daily updates, antivirus removals, malware arrest etc. consequently it saves the internet bandwidth and decreases the workload of manpower.
5. Management of “Koha Library server, Samba Server, and creation of shared folders for staff and faculty.
6. Impingement of Microsoft Server Technologies which includes and is not limited to configuring, administration, monitoring, troubleshooting Active Directory/Domain Controller, Roaming profiles, WSUS, DNS, DHCP, VPN, IIS, DFS, RDS/Terminal, Servers, Hyper V, system center.
7. Deployment/Configuration of DNS cluster and maintaining DNS entries on Linux CentOS-6.0.
8. Deployment of OpenNetAdmin for SEECS Data Center on CentOS-5.6”. This helped to manage inventory of the Data Center such as (Subnets, IP Address, Mac Address, DNS Names and DHCP Pools etc.).
9. Deployed and managed “Camera’s surveillance system for NUST SEES Data Center” using Pellco Digital Sentry thus enabling security staff to monitor the data center live 24/7 through computer and android devices.
10. Racks Assembling, Server Mounting, Sever Trouble Shooting, Network Switch installation, KVM Switches configuration, OS Deployment, Network cabling, troubleshooting, Monitoring of UPS and Stulz Precision Sys
11. Scheduling of Data Centre Maintenance activities on weekly and monthly basis.
12. Maintaining and managing daily roster of NOC Night staff. Providing them requisite training to efficiently carry out routine tasks.
13. Data Centre policy and procedure implementation and correspondence with students for Research Servers.
14. Managing ACS using FingerTac Device i.e. allowing Escorted Access to Data Center
15. Exploring new server virtualization/VDI technologies like Citrix Xen Server, Citrix XenApp, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft RemoteApp, RDS, and VMware Horizon View and provide recommendation for adaptation in DC.
Supervision of IT Support Team to ensure that Support tickets/call are logged and handled effectively and efficiently on support website: www.support.seecs.edu.pk.
Installation and Handling of Video Conferencing System. Installation of Smart Podium, Multimedia Projector and sound System for Classrooms, labs.
Provided technical support for Teaching Labs of Computing Department in SEECS.
Provided technical support for Seminar, workshop and Conference at Campus.
Managed Cloning of System 1000x systems during semester Break.
Software and Hardware Trouble Shooting in Computer Labs (about 300 Nodes).
Troubleshooting of Desktops, Laptops and Printer at Repair Desk.
Installation of VOIP Phones for SEECS Faculty and Staff.
Correspondence with Vendor for Claiming Warranty and Repairing of Different IT equipment.
Designed and Implemented the LAN solution for NUST SEECS different Labs.
