Managing the key performance areas and result indicators associated with supervising all departments and employees under several departments in the Technical Services department assisting with the rehabilitation, maintenance and daily operations of the technical services: roads, storm-water drainage, sewerage networks, water networks, cleansing, parks camp area, water and sewerage purification, sports fields and municipal buildings within Bergrivier Municipality.

Managing the key performance areas and result indicators associated with the rehabilitation, maintenance and daily operations of the technical services: roads, storm-water drainage, sewerage networks, water networks, cleansing, parks camp area, water and sewerage purification, management of operational construction projects through analysis and interpretation of developmental requirements against the capacity of the department to accomplish immediate, short and longer term service delivery objectives. Managing of staff within my five departments in order to deliver services of a excellent quality.
Areas of responsibility:
This assignment seeks to provide technical and project management assistance and capacity to the local municipalities whilst focusing on skills transfer, coaching and mentoring of municipal officials.
Technical and Project Management Support:
I was tasked to provide support to the local municipalities under the district jurisdiction and some of the duties are listed below:
• Integrating, co-coordinating, project-managing and financially administering the Municipal
Infrastructure Grant (MIG);
• Ensuring project compliance with all applicable legislation, policies and conditions applicable to MIG;
• Conducting project performance and cash flow reviews;
• Liaising with the Provincial and the Senior MIG Manager as well as other line function
Departments through formal regular evaluation/progress meetings;
• Managing cash flows and committed project expenditure;
• Delivering technical support and evaluating proposed projects in alignment with the respective municipal IDP's and the regional and provincial growth and development plans;
• Project-managing labour-intensive projects in line with the EPWP framework and the related reporting requirements;
• Attending regular project progress meetings;
• Assisting with other related municipal infrastructure programmes;
• Monitoring the consolidated cash flow performance reports on each project and on the
Regional programme collectively.
Assistance to the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Team:
I am tasked to provide support to the local municipalities under the district jurisdiction and some of the duties are listed below:
• Assisting in the compilation of maintenance plans
• Assist with compilation of Terms of References for professional services providers
• Assist with information for updating of:
1. Water Services Development Plan
2. Asset Register
3. Asset Management Plans
• Provide general advice on maintenance issues
• Drawing up of Tender documentation and supply chain is also one of my core functions.
Areas of responsibility were:
I have worked for H&I for two years on three different sites namely: Maclear (Eastern Cape), Mthatha (Eastern Cape) and in Warrenton (Kimberley) fulfilling the following duties:
• Survey;
• Quality management programme;
• Quantities for payment certificates;
• Costing;
• Occupational Health and Safety, & Traffic Accommodation;
All subject were passed namely: Project Management and Dissertation IV; Urban Planning & Design IV; Traffic Engineering IV; Transport Engineering IV; Construction Materials IV; Solid Waste Management IV and Geometric Design IV.
All subjects passed to obtain my National Diploma was 60% - 70% and above for most of my subjects. A bridging course was done in 2003, which was called the Foundation Programme (however no certificate was obtained for the bridging course.
All subject for matric was passed and the following subjects were completed: English; Afrikaans; Mathematics; Geography; Economics; Accounting.
