• Used an arsenal of teaching techniques for ESL comprehension. Incorporated organization by color, audio recordings for pronunciation practice, realia, graphic organizers, and other researched based activities to stimulate second language comprehension. Example: After modeling several times, on a weekly basis student pairs were assigned to develop an audio recording of activities for use by classmates to study vocabulary. Students were taught how to develop a plan and script to record as an .mp3 file. Student pairs employed deep language comprehension to successfully complete the assignment.
• Assumed the role of School Librarian in absence of functioning library management. Volunteered to manage, and then teach 4th grade students to maintain, the school’s library for availability to all students. Used Cambridge, School Library Management as a source text and incorporated the learning activities into the 4th grade reading comprehension requirements. Facilitated students through reorganization projects, developing user activities, and public relations initiatives which taught leader and stewardship.
