Emirates NBD Asset Management is a subsidiary of Emirates NBD operating out of DIFC.

Successfully managed the transition of fund service providers (fund administration and custody) as well as the smooth integration of the business mergers (external and internal). Implemented successfully the Advent suite of systems - APX, MOXY and Tradex. A robust mechanism put in place for KYC client monitoring & reporting. Experience in building and leading a team of competent personnel. Attained a satisfactory audit rating from all external as well as internal auditors.

Effective Dec 2012, I was given the additional responsibility for IT, administration and fund related accounting supervision and consequently managing a team of 9 staff. Complete responsibility for the smooth functioning of front to back investment operations processes of all products.
Work scope increased to support new conventional and sharia compliant products, active involvement with administrators and custodians as well as increase in number of channels servicing. From April 2008, my job involved the broad areas of client, fund and investment administration. Work closely with compliance to ensure adherence to regulations of both DFSA and UAE Central Bank. Administer the staff incentive plan for managers as well as executives. In addition, the current scope of work is subject to the sharia as well as funds audit. Handled the operational activities related to the asset management business mergers in 2007 as well as 2008 as well as supervised the transfer of funds between jurisdictions in 2009. Responsibility for the timely and accurate reporting of operational risk events related to the asset management business from 2009. Job also covered the due diligence of brokers, IFAs, fund & insurance platforms, real estate vendors & contractors as well as AML / KYC monitoring and reporting.

Achievements include the starting and organising of back office structure, formulating operational policies & procedures, improving transaction processing flow, incorporating control measures, streamlining accounting entries and ensuring regular staff training.
Organised the set up and management of the structure for systems, new agreements, accounting, MIS reporting, statement generation, custody and settlements. Ongoing responsibilities entail the supervision and monitoring of documentation, compliance, MIS, custody & fund administration, market valuation and settlements of all investments apart from liasing with auditors, other banks, brokers and financial institutions on behalf of the bank. Was instrumental in organising and setting up the staff PF operational and accounting set-up. Leading the project team for investment system automation and also responsible for establishing the asset management framework for policies & procedures. Successfully established the Real Estate Fund accounting & operational set-up.

Possess a thorough knowledge of back office treasury operations namely foreign exchange (corporate and margin), swaps, options, futures and equities (international & domestic) and have acquired in-depth knowledge of the macro environment by being exposed to asset-liability management of the bank. Have an expert knowledge of Globus treasury and securities system.
Achievements include the automation of nostro covering, implementation of capital guaranteed and mutual funds in Flexcube and automation of investment module in Globus implementing IAS 39.
Overall in-charge of Investment Division, the responsibilities of which entail complete documentation, accounting, MIS, limit monitoring, custody & fund management, market valuation, transfer pricing, reporting of exceptions to the investment book plan, central bank reporting, and settlements of all bank and client investments(Swift and Euclid), apart from liasing with auditors, other banks and financial institutions on behalf of the bank. Daily job activities include many treasury tasks more importantly being investment management, monitoring of treasury activities, nostro covering of all currencies and accountable for treasury processing of an overseas branch. Handled investment derivative structures like IRS, Credit Derivatives like CLN & CDS, CDO & ABS structures and also tailor made structures. Possess expert knowledge of Flexcube Mutual Funds system.

As the head of the accounts department in the corporate office, my routine work involved monitoring the budget, preparing cash flow and bank reconciliation statements and maintaining a fixed asset register. Key responsibilities included co-ordination with the accountants of regional offices, filing income tax returns, supervising the finalisation and consolidation of accounts and responding to audit queries.

Succeeded in managing people and having a good working relationship with my clients because of my analytical and leadership skills. Handled the audit and taxation work of a number of companies and firms. As the leader of the audit team my job was mainly raising audit queries regarding the correctness of accounts, helping in the finalisation work for audit purposes and supervision of the work of my subordinates.
