Key Result Area
• Responsible for Inception and implementation of an Incineration system for Bio-medical and industrial wastes, including preparation of technology selection, project feasibility, carrying out the FEED, EPC, HAZID, HAZOP and EIA studies and other project related activities;
• Client and contract management including payment follow-ups and addressing client’s concerns;
• In-charge of the following divisions
Waste management services for Hazardous and Non-Hazardous wastes, comprising of Collection, transportation, storage and disposal including management of and executing of the work on a day to day basis;
Responsible for P&L of the divisions;
Industrial cleaning services comprising of providing cleaning services for fuel oil tank, sewage pits, wet wells, Silos etc., including its transportation and disposal.
Managing a team of nearly 650 people across all the grades in the above divisions.
• Advising the management on improvements and business strategies for expansion and diversifications;
• Responsible for Bidding for various waste management projects including attending pre-bid meetings, post bid clarifications, Client and consultant interactions etc.;
• Responsible for providing Project and Environment Management support for all kinds of project being undertaken;
• Responsible for various kinds of documentations including audits required for successful implementation of the project;
• Other activities as and when necessary in addressing concerns from the client or consultant for the smooth and effective execution of the project/contract.
Key Result Areas:
Participating in the bidding process for various tenders by attending pre-bid meetings and post bid clarifications to and from the client. Interacting with different verticals within the organization and external consultants and put up the bid together including seeking management approval. Responsibility carries till the successful completion and handover of the project;
Involved in the design and execution of 2 landfill projects worth US $ 33 Million and long term operations and maintenance contract of US $ 100 Million with the Government of Oman. Position being held as the single focal point for all interactions, presentations, meetings with the client, third party design consultant, ministries, SCM, contractors and cost and schedule control;
Planning & implementing Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for MSW and C&I Wastes valued at US $ 30 Million in JV with Government of UAE, involving evaluation of various technologies, preparation of cost of project, preparation of project report, project schedule preparation, carrying out site investigations, required permits for the implementation of the project, preparation of DPR and other required documents for management approvals;
Project execution and quality control (CQA) activities for construction of landfill for hydrocarbon wastes for project for Kuwait Oil company, Kuwait under UN Sponsored the Kuwait Environmental Remediation Program (KERP);
Involved in waste characterization and quantification study, identification of technology partner, jointly preparing the financial models and cost of project, carrying out EIA of the proposed area, conducting techno-commercial meetings with stakeholders, preparation of implementation schedule, identification of subcontractors for the project, market study for the sale of recovered materials, etc.;
Project Execution for Design and Construction of 5 Waste Transfer Stations in Sultanate of Oman, essentially to planned to use as a collection point of municipal wastes from local settlements;
Responsible for executing a project involving constructing of first of its kind hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage facility for solid and inflammable waste for Government of Oman and for Oman Refineries at Sohar;
Responsible for carrying out construction of Landfill storage facility for Hazardous wastes as per USEPA guidelines;
Carrying out the Operation and Management of the Landfill storage facility for Hazardous wastes in Oman;
Preparation of various tenders- involved in preparation of the technical and commercial bid;
Coordinating with clients, Consultants, OEMs, and sub-contractors for meeting execution within the time schedules agreed upon;
Preparing various levels of schedule in MS projects, liaising with the design team for getting technical support and preparing constructional drawings, reviewing drawings as per site conditions, vendor development and shortlisting, RFQ preparation for the project components, etc.;
Accountable for:
Handling the activities such as negotiations with the bidders, budget comparison and cost control, internal reviewing of progress on daily basis apart from reviewing progress on weekly & monthly basis with the client or PMC and final completion of the project including preparing handover manual, etc. to the client;
Implementation of Site related activities and contractors for smooth execution of the project;
Resolving various waste management issues of other industries including preparing comprehensive techno-commercial bids, interacting with clients and regulatory authorities along with resolving management related issues and MIS.
Rendering inputs for environmental audits, monitoring and ensuring HSE policy adherence during site activities;
Coordination with regulatory agencies or departments for required permits for construction works; and
Monitoring day to day operations of the facility, coordinating with regulatory authorities, clients & other stakeholders.
The Key results area during the 2 years tenure were
Served as Focal Point for 3 Bioremediation Plant for producing water at PDOC, North and South Sudan;
Reviewed existing design, handled overall management of operation & maintenance, suggested suitable improvements of bioremediation system, rendering technical assistance in sourcing and selecting maintenance and plantation sub-contractors
Ensured cost control operations in bioremediation system on daily basis
Preparation and review of EIA and HSE documents in line with regulatory requirements and carrying out audits as per agreed TOR;
Responsible for:
Collecting data, analysis and preparing strategy report for solid waste management and wastewater management for master plan of Al Batinah Region of Sultanate of Oman
Preparing technical and commercial environmental proposals
Seconded to Oman Environmental Services Holding Co. (OESHCO, also known as Be’ah) and involved in drawing out technical specifications and preparing tenders for solid waste management plan for Oman, waste transfer stations, engineered landfills, etc. for implementing solid waste management system in Sultanate of Oman
Liaised and prepared workshop materials for seminar on Oily Waste Water Treatment at Qatar Petrochemicals, Qatar
Accountable for conducting discussions with various international waste management companies on selection of suitable technology for waste management in Oman
Accountable for negotiating and finalizing 5 MoAs including 3 MOAs with Premier Central Government Institutes in India, ensuring setting up of the offices in Sudan & UAE
Principally was responsible for
Generation of enquiry, techno-commercial discussions with the client, feasibility report preparations, freezing the specifications of various bought out items, floating enquiries for bought out items, vendor evaluation including technical discussions with vendor/manufacturers and order placements on vendors/manufacturers.
Drawing out a project implementation schedule bar chart, identifying critical stages during execution, budget for the project, and monitoring the same for time management and cost control.
Getting various drawing work done like P&ID, PFD, GA, Layout, Structural/manufacturing drawings done with detailing, overall checking the same and release for construction with detailed inputs.
Follow up with the manufacturers/vendors during the course of manufacturing, including periodic visits to the vendor’s place and inspections to ensure quality and timely completion of the work.
Co-coordinating and overseeing of assembly or erection of all components of the system being assembled at site as per the GA or the scheme conceived originally and also instruct to carry out modifications, if required, as per site conditions without affecting the performance of the plant with due consultations with all the concerned professionals and client.
Overseeing the commissioning of the system including sorting out various troubleshooting problems at the start of the system. Co-coordinating with various agencies or experts to get individual components of the plant commissioned. Getting test run and performance of each component within the ordered parameters. Final commissioning of the plant with all units installed as per the design and demonstrate the working parameters to the client/end user.
Finally completion of the system, completing any loose ends, commissioning and handing over the plant to the end user, training the operators to use the system and submitting an operation and maintenance manual including submission of as built drawings, test certificates, PFD, P&ID, GA, layout
Worked as an Engineer in Sales, marketing, design, manufacture, supply erection and commissioning of various types of waste management systems, Incineration plants, pollution control systems and other industrial heating systems like hot air generators, Direct and indirect fired heater, Furnaces, Combustion systems etc.
Was experienced involved development of design, drawing, detailing, and execution of project, ordering out various components, cost control of the project and co-coordinating in site erection and commissioning work for Petrochemical projects, Chemical projects, Bulk drugs projects, Hospitals etc.
Other skills involve familiarity in reading AutoCAD drawings, MS Office including word, excel, presentations etc. Combustion systems like oil burners, flare systems, Automatic packaged type, monoblock, LAP type, Fans and Blowers, refractories, PI controllers, PLC systems, other components in MS fabrications, piping etc.
