Researcher at University of Copenhagen
  • Denmark
  • July 2015 to March 2016

My research interests covered the chemical senses (smell and taste) and their plasticity in the congenitally blind brain, which is crucial to understand the importance of vision in the eating experience. I was also studying the interactions between vision and the social senses of smell (e.g. body odor perception) and taste (e.g. aesthetics and morality). My job consisted in conducting research projects (i.e. write protocols, perform experiments, analyse data, write scientific reports, publish results of interest in journals and international conferences), write grant applications, review scientific literature and supervise interns as well as master and bachelor students.

Science teacher & mentor at Brain Awareness Montreal
  • Canada - Quebec
  • September 2009 to April 2014

Brain Awareness Montreal (BAM) is supported by the Society for Neuroscience and its main objective is to popularize neuroscience to the youth through various activities. Between 2008 and 2014, I have been giving over 30 presentations on either The Five Senses in primary schools or on Drugs and Addiction in high schools. From 2011 to 2013, I have offered tutoring in neurosciences and contributed to the organization of our local Brain Bee competition, during which high school students are tested on their knowledge about the brain. I acted as the leader of this committee in 2012 and 2013. Most importantly, I have demonstrated strong initiative in 2012 by creating the summer internship program and have acted as the head of committee since then. The goal of this program is to sensitize students to the importance of research in neuroscience by allowing high school and College students to gain a concrete hand-on research experience in a neurosciences laboratory. This highly competitive program has offered over 10 internships in the 3 main universities in the great Montreal area, i.e. University of Montreal, UQAM and McGill University.
