Hawkins, as PMO to IAG insurance manages the construction activities throughout the Canterbury Region following the Christchurch Earthquake Sequence.

In my current role of Lead Quantity Surveyor I lead a team of 7 Quantity Surveyors managing Circa 1, 000 concurrent projects and turning over approximately NZ $5m per month. Other functions include:
- Internal QC and audit procedures
- Development and maintenance of commercial procedures and IT.
- Reporting of production
- Monitoring and distributing workload
- Mentoring and training.
- Supporting senior management.
- Liaison with re-insurers representatives and auditors
- Business development and liaison with external management consultants
- Developing business models and rules and delegated authorities

Quantity Surveyor on the Canterbury Recovery Project in the Residential Repairs 100K+ Silo for Hawkins Construction. In this challenging role on this project which is worth over $1 bn NZ in a construction period of 4 years, Hawkins Construction provides a Project Management service for the client IAG (Insurance Australia Group) the largest in New Zealand. In my role I manage over 100 projects all of which exceed value of $100k NZ and form part of a QS team which manage a turnover exceeding $3.5 million per month.

Responsibilities include:
- Progressive and final project cost reports
- Liaise with Project Manager to set up budget structure
- Managing multiple concurrent projects
- Critiquing builders quotations to ensure they are using current market rates
- Cost reporting and control
- Progressive reviews of project performance forecasts
- Systems and procedures
- Formulating contracts
- Estimation
- Managing Tender Documentation and Evaluating Tenders Submissions
- Client and customer liaison
- Preparation and settlement of variation with the loss adjusters and sub contractors
- Preparation, settlement and certification of progress and final contract claims from Subcontractors and builders

Quantity Surveyor/ Construction Manager on numerous projects of various values incorporating Commercial, Residential and Industrial. In this role I worked both as an individual and as a part of a team in the estimation and tendering process for residential and commercial projects.

- Responsible for the procurement of Labour and Materials
- Liaising with architects, clients, engineers etc.
- Ensuring the job is completed in accordance with all Health and Safety Legislation.
- Scheduling to ensure subcontractors are on site with the adequate materials at the correct time.
- Responsible for Cost Planning and completing Cost benefit Analysis Reports.
- Quality controlling work of sub contractors ensuring it is carried out to a high standard.
