The Four Day Clearance is the biggest and most succesful Clearance of all kind of furniture in the Cyprus market. These furniture are all imported from China and they are all value for money since the quality is the best of China. The factories that these furniture are imported are very carefully choosen since the company gave a lot of emphasis on the quality of the products. The Four Day Clearance lasts for five days every two months.
My main duties were to manage all logistic part that was huge since every two months we imported between 120-150 containers of furniture in order to be ready for every next Four Day Clearance, to manage about 80 temporary employees that work those five days plus another 15 permanent employees, to manage all the advertising and marketing activities in cooperation with top level management, to recruit the right temporary peronel, to meet the tied deadlines which were very limited for the preparation of each next clearance and the like.
PELETICO is a Cyprus company specialized in the manufacturing of all kind of paints for inside and outside purposes, for walls, woods, iron and floors.
I was recruited to the company because they decided to install and commission the WMS (Warehouse Management System) and they needed a person that could do the job. Since ihad the knowhow of this project i decided to move there.
Apart from the implementation of the installation, training of the personel how to use the software and scanners, my other tasks were to manage the duties of the personel of the warehouse, to manage all the imports and exports of the company, to manage all the daily routes of the drivers for the distribution of the orders to the customers, to have a daily communication with the forwarders of the company for the JIT collection of the orders and exports and the like.
The company was a new retail company with retail shops all over Cyprus selling I.T. equipment such as computers, labtops, peripherals, consumables and the like.
My main duties were to set up a logistics department for the best storage and movement of the products within and outside the warehouse, to search and find qualified personel for the shops, to find the ideal locations for each shop with parking places, to manage all the financial part of the company, to provide the necessary knowhow of the products to the personel and the like
I received a competitive offer from Mr George Galatariotis to get the position of the Sales Manager at his company and i accepted it since the company was regarded as one of the most important players of the Cyprus market in the I.T. sector.
My main tasks were to set up an experienced sales team in all cities all over Cyprus with good knowledge in network solutions, hardware and software solutions that would be able to provide solutions for large and medium size companies as well as for the the governmental and non governmental sector. Also, my task was to meet the turnover and profit margins targets of the company in a six month basis, was to educate the personel systematically with seminars, to have a weekly communication with the large accounts of the company and the like.
I was orginally recruited at the company as a management trainee and after 1 year of hard work i was appointed as the manager of the company due to the fact that the manager left the company for personal and family reasons. He was Greek and he moved to Cyprus for this job and in the long term his wife did not like the life in Cyprus.
CTC Infocom was the official distributor of EPSON products in the Cyprus market and our target was to set up an effective dealer network in Cyprus.
The main functions of my position was to manage the personnel in the most suitable way, to set up the dealer network all over Cyprus, to decide the profit margins oof each product category, to have a good communication with EPSON's headquarters in Italy, to take part in the international distributors meetings of EPSON in Europe, manage all the advertising and marketing activities of the company, to set up a new logistic sotware the Warehouse Management System (WMS) for a more effective and accurate movement of goods within and outside the warehouse.
My dissertation title was about the attempts of Cyprus to enter into the European Union and the difficulties that had to face before that. Also, i gave emphasis on the Turkish invasion in 1974 which ruined the Cyprus economy and the recovery period until the Cyprus economy needed to get stronger. At the end of my dessertation i presented my dissertation in front of all the students of the postgraguate degree (250 students) and all the lecturers and my total grade about the whole project was 62/100.
The main subjects included in my studies were Marketing, Corporate Management, Economics (MIcro and Macro) Financial Management, Quantitative economics, Financial Accounting, Company Law and the like.
