Majid is an Associate Director within the Technology Advisory team of KPMG Majid has extensive experience related to major technological transformations specifically in the areas of Data Centre and Networks.
Majid has broad consulting experience related to Project Management of various Technology projects, Enterprise Architecture, Business Analysis, IT infrastructure and Architecture, and Systems Integration. Majid has over 12 years of experience working with a range of government and private enterprises.
His recent experience includes:
• Strategy Development and Program Management of Australian Government’s biggest ever Private Cloud implementation. This transformation program is aimed to consolidate 900+ networks into one centralised network.
•Australian Department of Defence’s IT Strategy and its Implementation Roadmap.
•Enterprise review of Australian Geospatial Organisation’s IT Infrastructure and Architecture.
•Infrastructure deployment at Tier-3 Data Centre.
•Internet Gateway Upgrade.
•Various technical, business analysis and management roles within Australian Taxation Offices (ATO) ICT Change Program, Data Centre Relocation, and Data Centre Maintenance projects.
KPMG Engagement experiences (2010-2015)
Australian Government - KPMG has been engaged to remediate the large number of ICT standalone networks across Australian Government Departments. KPMG’s responsibilities are to develop Strategy and its Implementation Roadmap and to manage the solution implementation, migration, operation, monitoring and decommissioning of Standalone Networks. Majid was the Program Manager for the first phase of the program where he developed Strategy and Implementation Roadmap for the program. In the second phase of the program, Majid is responsible to design the Target Operating Model of the solution including options generation, business case development, setting-up support organisation and run the Business-as-usual (BAU) operations.
Aligning technology with business is the key activity in this role. Throughout this role, Majid has not only been responsible for the program deliverables but also reporting to C-level executives including Secretory, CIO and CTO.
Australian Geospatial Organisation: KPMG was engaged to conduct an Australian Geospatial Organisation’s (AGO) Enterprise Review to assess its alignment against a high performing and valued organisation. The Review provided options and recommendations to the client’s leadership team for enhancements in its business and technological operations and strategic direction.
Majid’s role in this engagement was to lead the review of Technology Architecture and its associated business processes such as geospatial information lifecycle management processes that includes i.e. collection, processing, storing, producing and disseminating geospatial information. Majid was also responsible for reporting to CEO of AGO on regular basis. Majid also contributed towards designing the strategic direction of the organisation.
Australian Department of Defence: Data Centre Migration -
Majid was part of core KPMG team that was involved in Data Centre Migration (DCM) project at Australian Department of Defence. Majid was responsible for deployment of IT infrastructure at Defence’s Greenfield Tier-3 Data Centre. Majid’s main responsibilities were to ensure mainframe, storage, servers, network and other relevant infrastructure is ready before the migration of applications into this new Data Centre. As part of this role, Majid managed tasks in a multi-vendor environment dealing with IBM, HP, Accenture, Cisco, EMC and HDS on daily basis.
Majid was also responsible for Acceptance-into-Service activities ensuring all vendors and Systems Integrators (SIs) develop artefacts including Systems Operating Procedures, solution design and other documents on time and according to expected quality.
Majid’s other responsibilities in this role was to provide regular status updates to Defence CTO and CIO.

Project Manager at Hewlett Packard

At HP, Majid worked as a Project Manager managing projects mainly related with IT Networks and Infrastructure. During all of these projects, Majid was responsible for project planning, management of project activities, deliverables, resource and scope management, scheduling, reporting, budgeting, risks and issues management and stakeholder communication.
Majid managed a number of projects including but not limited to Terrestrial Communications Network implementation, End User Computing upgrade, midrange server refresh, internet filter enhancements, and gateway upgrade, involving implementing significant improvements to the existing infrastructure that enabled better integration, improved service delivery to end users, and enhanced user satisfaction.
Coordination of infrastructure implementation in a multi-vendor environment was a key responsibility of Majid’s role.
In managing the delivery of these projects, Majid conducted regular discussions with divisional and business stakeholders to understand, model, and prioritise required tasks and system enhancement requests, including assessment of client impact during the project implementation, and mapping out training and support requirements after the system enhancements. In addressing Project Management related tasks, Majid followed PRINCE2 methodologies and the ITIL v3 Framework.

IT Specialist/Systems Administrator at Hewlett Packard

Majid led the team responsible for technical implementation, coordination, and ongoing support of the Australian Taxation Office’s (ATO) midrange applications systems. Engaged as the Team Leader, Majid was responsible for the planning and execution of all operational activities including BAU tasks and Service Management.

Majid also managed midrange components of ATO’s Data Centre Migration project (relocation of primary Data Centre from Canberra to Sydney). In this project Majid was involved in design, implementation and testing of migration strategy of midrange applications.

Technical Project Officer at Australian Taxation Office

In this role Majid was responsible for requirements gathering and implementation of midrange applications monitoring tool. Engaged as the Technical Project Officer, Majid oversaw various project activities including solution design and implementation, vendor and contract management, product development and integration, user training, and mapping out support arrangements.

At ATO, Majid also worked as a part of testing team responsible for managing Product and Performance Test phases of ATO’s Change Program. Majid was responsible for designing and executing test cases and work closely with build team to resolve defects. These responsibilities required him to work closely with technical and business teams to identify requirements and design test cases accordingly.

Technical Project Officer at Government of South Australia

In this project, Majid was responsible for system analysis of departments’ existing Telemetry solution and identifying future system enhancement requirements. Majid was also responsible for market research to identify suitable systems engineering product required to upgrade department’s existing Telemetry solution, bidding for the approval of project budget, and solution implementation.

The outcome of the project was to upgrade department’s existing Telemetry solution so that the new solution consistently delivers quality information, including a flexible self-service analytical capability to enable new mechanisms to gather information, whilst also integrating with the department’s exiting Data Warehouse environment.
