As the head of IT section, I am responsible for the following responsibilities:
Provide leadership in specific technical areas of competence i.e. emergency telecommunications, Information Technology (IT) operations, applications development management, business relationship building and management. Design and manage deployment of Electrical, IT and Telecommunications systems and applications including budgeting and planning in accordance with IRD corporate standards. Integrate IT and Telecommunications systems and applications to ensure appropriate data security and access controls considering both local and wide area network issues. Maintain, upgrade or enhance existing systems and applications including troubleshooting; and provide continuing user support including keeping stocks of spare parts and equipment to support the repair and maintenance of Information Technology and Telecommunications equipment. Develop and maintain appropriate Information Technology and Telecommunications contingency capacity. Contribute to the preparation and regular update of contingency plans; periodically monitor the management of risks and report on any actions taken; ensure that all offices are always adequately equipped. Prepare operational plans and identify resource requirements at the onset of an emergency operation. Collaborate with colleagues in the Information Technology Division to define corporate IT and Telecommunications training policies and programs including preparation of training modules and materials and ensure staff are appropriately trained. Develop technical specifications needed to facilitate procurement of TC/IT equipment and services at the least cost possible. Identify and test new software and hardware for improving and upgrading system performance; install any technology upgrades as required. Ensure effective coordination with other NGOs / partner organizations in order to maximize possibilities of inter-agency collaboration in the field of IT and Telecommunications under the umbrella of USAID. Prepare TC/IT tender documents and carry out technical evaluation of bids and proposals received. Negotiate for TC/IT services with local service providers. Provide professional leadership, work direction and support to staff directly supervised including conducting their performance appraisal. Supervise IT Service desk function and ensure that IT support to CO staff is being provided according to agreed levels and within agreed defined time frame. Plan, budget, design, monitor, document, secure and also maintain IT systems in all offices according to IRD standards and policies. Ensure all IRD offices and staff have adequate connectivity with maximum availability and minimized down time. Adapt corporate IT standards, policies and guidelines for CO and sub offices. Understand and coordinate the implementation of contingency plans, corporate IT policies and guidelines in IRD Karachi. Graphic designing of reports, banners, standees etc., and professional photography with DSLR camera, Perform other related duties as required. Due to my best performance and services I have been promoted from IT Officer to IT Manager after one year of my joining.
