My task was dedicated to preparing Gantt & time chainage programme of works and cost analysis for several Tenders in GCC Countries. Amongst the submitted tenders I was involved with: Sheikh Jaber al Ahmad Al Sabah Causeway - Doha Link -RA/214 (Kuwait), Construction of New Road from Industrial City in Musaffah to Hamin Intersecrion at E-11 (Abu Dhabi), Design and Construction of Main Trunk Sewer (Contract MTS-03 & MTS-02) (Doha), Comprehensive Improvement of The Parallel Roads (Contract R881-2A1) (Dubai).

The firm’s assignment was the realization of a new stretch of the Highway. The project (worth around 400M€) includes the excavation of 4 tunnels with an overall length of about 11, 200 m, 2 viaducts with an overall length of 2, 000 m. Around 5.000 m of the Sparvo Tunnel are being excavated with the Herrenknecht S-574 EPB TBM (diameter of 15.62m) currently the world’s largest earth-pressure-balance (EPB) TBM.
My task in the jobsite was the planning -thus monitoring- of the works, in particular, I gainied experience in assessing: time, manpower and cost of mechanised tunnel boring, along with the traditional traditional tunnel boring technique.
Part of the job involved cost analysis and budgeting, including -on a monthly basis- preparing budget tracking reports.
As planning software I use mainly Primavera, occasionally MS Project.
This was a tunnelling project along the main Italian Highway (A1: Bologna-Firenze). The project, worth around 600 M€, comprises 18 km of tunnels and several viaducts. My task was to prepare the program of works (Gantt with Primavera Project Planner) and, on a monthly basis, schedule it in order to track the progress and forecast problems.
During my stay in the Company I spent a month on the assignment: Comprehensive Improvements of the Parallel Roads PROJECT R881/3A CONTRACT 3A in Dubai (worth around 450M AED). My job there consisted in defining the initial planning of the works the Client -Parsons for RTA- required after the contract assignment.
This assignment was aimed at designing aqueducts. In this role I make the hydraulic calculation and through the software WaterCAD assess the project scenario on the pressure pipe network.
Construction site Development of Idu Industrial Area (Abuja -Nigeria). This project was aimed at building more than 20 km of industrial roads with 8 bridges, deep drainage and sewerage system, electrical and hydraulic facilities.
I prepared the site program of works through the software Primavera Project Planner (after a training course in this project management software) .
I had the task of constantly updating the program in order to give an understanding of the actual vs. planned. I also managed the local/foreign purchase of basic materials (steel, cement, etc…) according to the planned activities. I personally oversaw some local subcontractors of minor activities.
In this construction Company I manage the site requirements in order to expedite and optimize the supply of machinery, spare parts and equipments not available locally. Among these tasks, and in liaison with external consultants, I assess project reports sent by the site.
After graduating from civil engineering I worked part time as junior designer in several technical offices while completing my Ph.D in the Italian Ministry of Environment
Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of Perugia. The research was carried out at the Italian Ministry of the Environment.
M.Sc Degree in Civil Engineering from the Department of Hydraulics at the University of Roma Tre (110/110 cum laude). The final thesis investigated and assessed the risk of inundation in Rome.
