I was responsible for the administration of the New Build Jack Up projects in PPL Shipyard, Singapore. I looked after contracts, procurement, supply chain, logistics and personnel to ensure smooth transition between projects and operations and materials, equipment and personnel are ready for roll out of the rigs onto contract.
I took first new build Jack Up “MAKO” to Thailand to work for Salamander along with new Operations Manager and new Operations Supt. We achieved the best new build start up ever in Atwood Oceanic’s history within the first two months of operations.
Responsibilities and Achievements
•Reporting directly to the Operations Manager in Thailand and VP of Finance in Houston.
•In charge of contracts, procurement, materials management, supply chain, personnel logistics, finance, budgets and in country Contract Administration & Execution.
•Monitor and delegate all crew logistics, visas and work permits with Thai labour agents.
•Set new budgets for three new build Jack Ups based on first new build’s requirements.
•Set up new warehousing facility in Thailand and implemented new inventory control procedures both on and offshore.
I was recruited for the next phase of COSL Drilling’s evolution into the International Drilling market, with 4 Jack Ups coming out of Chinese waters and heading to the Middle East for long term contracts in Iran. I was employed as Materials and Inventory Specialist and was one of the key members of staff sent over to Dubai prior to the Rigs arriving, to set up procurement and warehousing and procedures for equipment logistics, storing and re-allocations of idle equipment stock.
After having three months off too await the arrival of my new baby son, I was offered an 18 month contract position within Prosafe as
OF PURCHASING
I started in this newly created position with a very young and exciting Drilling Company with ambitious plans for rapid growth. Within the first two months, we acquired (through aggressive share buyouts), a company called Smedvig. My role was quite simply to implement Policies and Procedures for the company in relation to the Purchasing, Expediting, and Logistics, Standardization of Materials, Reduce Costs and assist in accountability of the New Build Projects. In a short space of time I managed to implement a structure to the Purchasing of the Company and issued the company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Manual.
Responsibilities and Achievements
•My Team consisted of Purchasing Manager, five buyers, sixteen Materialsmen, Auditors & Warehouse Personnel including Manager.
•Control of $800M+ in Materials and Capex Inventory on and off-shore.
•Client Contract & Tender input regarding Capex and Inventory requirements.
•Budgetary involvement with Units regarding purchasing forthcoming / future equipment requirements.
•Management of Supply Chain and Logistics including Contracts.
•Implementation of New Company Policies and Procedures.
•Implementation of Standardization of Materials for the fleet.
•Implementing new ERP Systems for Supply Chain & Contract Management that worked with Operational needs
•Reduce Inventory on hand, through fleet re-distribution of idle stock, and selling / disposal of obsolete equipment.
•Project assistance with regard to Purchasing for New Build Rigs.
•Vendor selection and Auditing for Contractual Capex Projects.
•Training Materials Personnel on Inventory Control Procedures & Systems and importance of minimum and maximum stock holding on units.
•Set Up New Warehouse Facilities in Singapore for all working and New Build Rigs. This was also my remit in remote sites like Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Australia.
International Facilities Management. (I.F.M.) POSITION: BDM
Since incorporation of the company I was involved in several major contracts being won. This primarily involved consultancy services for the Oil and Gas service sector. In Feb '97' I was based at the offices of O.M.M. and I.T.S. as a
HOTEL AND
in the Dutch, Irish and British sectors (on various offshore installations), to Auditing and Training the Materials personnel in the European Division on the Noble Inventory System and Procedures, as well as Stocktaking & Materials Management. In addition I oversaw stacked project management, requiring procurement of capital fixtures & materials, liasing with local vendors to ensure competitive pricing and I was heavily involved in the buying for the UKCS Platforms and Mobiles run by Noble Drilling. In the latter days I was Materials Manager for West Africa Division, overseeing 6 Jack Ups and 1 Semi-Submersible, 2 yard locations and Logistics for Region.
I was responsible for ensuring compliance with company procedures and policies by all management and personnel regarding purchasing, procurement, expediting, logistics, vendor selection, supply chain and tender submissions.
Responsibilities and Achievements
•Team of 14 Materials Personnel, 14 Rig Managers, 6 Drilling Supt. and 5 Buyers, in West Africa Division.
•Control of $600M in Materials and Capex Inventory on and off-shore, in West Africa.
•Client Tender input regarding Capex and Inventory requirements.
•Budgetary involvement with Units regarding purchasing forthcoming / future equipment requirements.
•Team of 26 Materials Personnel and 5 Buyers in European Division.
•Control of $32M in Material Spare Parts, distributed over 20 units in European Division.
•Reduced European Inventory on hand by $1.5M, through fleet re-distribution of idle stock, and selling / disposal of obsolete equipment
for Stacked Maintenance and 5 yearly Capex Projects.
•Vendor selection and Auditing for Capex Projects.
•Training Materials Personnel on Inventory Control Procedures & Systems and importance of minimum and maximum stock holding on units.
•Increased ROCE as mandated by Corporate Head Office, through all of the above
