Civil Engineer (trainee)
projacs
Total years of experience :0 years, 1 Months
I was assigned to this training job a few months after I graduated from the American University of Sharjah. I was learning about the civil engineering contracting job at the burjuman mall renewal on site. Three companies were working on the project: Burjuman, Projacs, and Haydar. I was training with the Projacs team but learning at the same time from the other two firms. I attended the board meetings that they had for the project which included topics such as cost, safety, and contracting, Those meetings were very beneficial to me as I learnt a lot about the advantages and disadvantages of different team work. I also used what I learned from the senior courses that I used in the university that I went to such as 'Project Estimation'
I majored in Architecture and Design in my freshman year. I learned a lot about expressing one’s self and style according to his/her perception and thoughts in 2D and 3D designs. I also learned about some Art History of Architectural Designs, and about paintings and sculptures as well. In my Sophomore year I shifted to Civil Engineering, and there was a lot of theory work, far from the work type I was used to when being a design student, but I adapted to it, and learned to have a passion for engineering as well from the my junior and senior projects that I would work on in some courses. My senior design project was my biggest challenge and achievement at the same time. I worked on it with my group for two semesters, as used research and practical works.
I was the deputy head of the Student Life Organization (SLO) in high school, where I organized and managed different departments in the organization, such as Academics, Discipline, Yearbook, and Sports. The International School of Choueifat has a huge influence for its students because it prepares them for real life challenges, and is accepted in most universities world wide, it gave me a bright future as I learned a lot from this school, and I definitely used what I learned (educational and professional) qualities when I went to the American University of Sharjah
