The marina is a small harbor at Rebak Island, Langkawi and provides marine and resort facilities
to international yachts arrive from all over the world. It has capacity to provide berthing for maximum 189 boats in wet berth and 70 boats on dry dock space. The marina is part of a resort in Rebak Island property with 94 rooms.
Responsibilities:
* As Head of Department and overall in-charge of marina department, administration and customer service.
* Responsible for daily business operation of marina, dry dock and marina reception office.
* Coordinating yacht repair & maintenance requirement between yacht owner and contractor.
* Manage customer complaints and feedback system. Interact daily with customer and build good relationship with customer.
* Monitor daily billing and invoicing system. To make sure all customer accounts are properly billed and up to date.
* Prepare yearly business revenue and expenses budget. Coordinate marketing and advertising of marina business. Monitor daily revenue report and take proactive action to ensure target achieved.
* Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of marina area. Monitor and ensure
marina facilities (toilets & shower rooms, gymnasium, laundry room, store etc.) are all in
excellent condition.
* Coordinate with Security Department and ensure safety and security of all boats in
marina and dry dock area is kept at all time.
* Monitor boats transfer services uninterrupted and make sure boat maintenance taken care.
Experiences Gained:
* First-hand experience in dealing with emergency situations such as tsunami disaster 2004, fire in marina and medical emergency.
* Assisting project team in re-building construction of marina after tsunami disaster which totally damages the marina.
* Proven track record in marina business improvement since 2004. Personally prepared
yearly revenue budget and achieved targeted revenue.
* Experienced in handling special events with 100 to 200 participants. Coordinate boat transfer for participants from Langkawi Island to Rebak Island.
* Personally prepared Marina Standard Operating Manual (SOP) and personnel Job Description Manual.
* Involved in re-branding activity of the property from Rebak Marina Resort changed to Rebak Island Resort in 2007 and again changed to Vivanta By Taj - Rebak Island Langkawi in 2014.
* Experienced in coordinating marketing events to promote marina and attract new customers.
* Interacted on daily basis with customers from different backgrounds and nationalities.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for navigating the ship from port to port. Prepare voyage plan from port to port.
* Responsible in maintaining navigation equipment, safety equipment and all certification relating to navigation.
* Assisting cargo operation during discharging and loading at port of call.
* Assisting in survey requirement for ship certification renewal.
* Conducting fire drill, abandon ship exercise and safety drill. Ensure ship crews familiar with emergency preparedness.
Experiences gained:
* Familiar with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations.
* Understanding requirement for sailing in high seas and weather anticipation.
* Involved in dry docking operation and delivery of new ship.
Cadet training at Malaysia Maritime Academy for one year and ship board training for 2 years. The training was for preparation for career as ship officer and captain on board cargo ship. The training was fully sponsored by Malaysia International Shipping Corporation (MISC).
