Inspection of Calibration of all types of process instrumentation: The instrument to be calibrated shall be withdrawn from the store and inspected in store and inspected in store itself for any visual damage defects and missing parts if any. If found it shall be noted any it will be taken to test bench for calibration. All the instruments that are to be bench calibrated such as control valves, Transmitters, Indicators shall be calibrated in Lab prior to release for installation. The calibration of instruments shall be done by applying a precision input signal and measuring the output signal by a precision digital meter or gauge. All input and output measuring test equipment should be precision with valid test certification. Depending on the type of instruments to be calibrated the Test bench shall be prepared with adequate equipment, tools and other utilities. The instruments that have smart or hard protocol will be calibrated using respective hand held communicators. The in-line instruments shall be calibrated at site only. Vendor package instruments also shall be calibrated at site only. All the calibrated instruments shall be affixed with a sticker indicating calibrated date and initial of the technician who carries out the calibration and test results will be recorded on the approved ITP formats. It is then considered ready for field installation. All the primary calibration equipment to be utilized at site or Lab is calibrated from a standard institution for certification approved. Inspection of QA/QC procedure: 3. Inspection of Cables Testing (Insulation Resistance (IR) values and Continuitycheck)& Laying, Dressing, Tagging: Duct Banks are clear of any foreign and sharp materials, which can damage to the cable. Trenches are executed as per the dimension shown in the drawings and sand bedding must be correct as per the specifications. All the duct bank sleeves shall be marked and identified according to the applicable construction drawings. Cable trays should be inspected for sharp burrs, edges and routings is complete. A minimum at 300 mm spacing shall be maintained between cables and high temperature surfaces. Following spacing between cables of different voltage level shall be maintained. Between LV Power Cables and Instrument cables – 300 mm Between HV Power Cables and instrument cables – 600 mm Between Instruments signal cables and Instrument power cables – 300 mm Underground cable shall be identified with its cable number with S.S tags at every 30 mm distance and at 20 mm for above ground cables (PVC) material, after dressing the cables neat & proper way. All Cables laid shall be recorded for their routing, Length, Sizes connections according to cable schedules. Inspection of QA/QC procedure: 4. Inspection of Installation of Stanchions, Cable Trays, Conduits, Panel frame, JBs, All types of Instrument and its impulse lines, local panels and console cabinets in the control room : Prior to starting of fabrication, the drawing for construction should be verified and theproceed with fabrication. One the support is fabricated, as per drawings and site requirement, it shall be sent to galvanizing and painting, then taken up for installation. Prior to Installation of Instrument the place where is to be installed is verified for access and correct process connection. The instrument shall be installed on the dedicated instrument stanchions. If the instrument with an output meter/indicator should be placed in such a manner that it is easily readable. The instrument shall be installed with all its applicable accessories as per the instrument list for installation. The instrument shall be installed with access for maintenance. Position, levels, routing, supporting and tag no. of piping & tubing are according to drawings Materials are in accordance with specification. Piping & tubing do not impose stress on the instruments. Instrument vents and drains according to drawings. Base dimension and locations have been checked with the two drawings. Correctly positioned and properly seated with mounting bolt security fastened. Connections are made between adjacent sections and tie rods are correctly installed. Door locks operate correctly. Name plates/tags according to drawings. Inspection of QA/QC procedure: 5. Inspection of Cable Glanding, Termination and Earthling’s works: Prior to termination the cable number should be clearly identified, the insulation resistance and the continuity is checked and values are recorded in approved test formats. It should be ensured that all cables enter and is glanded at the bottom of the junction boxes or panels. As an alternative only of the bottom of the box is full. The side may be used, providing a drip loop of 20 to 30cm in the cable. Cable entry from the top of junction boxes is prohibited. Cable tags and core markers shall be strictly in accordance with the drawings. Cable markers and Tags to be used for identification shall be accordance with specification. Ferruling philosophy as per the approved procedure must be followed. Al metal enclosures correctly earthed. Cable shields/screens correctly earthed. Safety barriers, converter, etc. correctly earthed. Inspection of QA/QC procedure: 6. Inspection of Pressure testing: The testing of the impulse line from the primary block valve at the instrument shall be carried out the blocking off the instrument form the pressure source and vented to atmosphere or temporarily removed. A pressure of 1.5 times of the design pressure mentioned in the instrument data sheets or the max allowable working pressure of the instrument, whichever is the lower shall be applied to test impulse line. The pressure shall be maintained and observed for duration of at least 10 mi Inspection ofQA/QC procedure: 7. Inspection for Loop Checking: The purpose of the check is to make sure that the loop is complete the correct field instrument are connected to the correct input on the DCS of PLC and the output from the DCS or PLC go to the correct field device.
