Training and Clinical Experience:
House officer in El-Hussein Hospital:
I spent one year (in the form of rotations) in El-Hussein Hospital, Al-Azhar University as a house officer in the following departments:
- Internal Medicine (2 months).
- General Surgery (2 months).
- Paediatrics (2 months).
- Gynaecology and Obstetrics (2 months).
- Tropical (Gastroenterology) (2 months).
- Orthopaedics (2 months).

Resident (SHO) in General Surgery Department:
I spent 6 months in General Surgery. I shared as a first assistant in several operations such as: Thoiredectomy, hernioplasty, hernioraphy, cholecystectomy, varicocele, varicose veins...etc. I did many minor operations as a primary surgeon such as appendicectomy, exicision of sebaceous cyst, lipoma and circumcision.

Resident (SHO) in Cardiothoracic Surgery Department:

Operative experience:
•Sternotomy, hemostasis and closure of sternotomy.
•Sternotomy and cannulation in open heart surgery.
•Thoracotomy and its closure.
•Second assistant in valves replacement operations.
•Harvesting of the following conduits:
Saphenous vein, radial artery and internal thoracic artery.
ICU experience:
•Receiving patients after open heart surgery for follow up and also any complicated cases after remote surgery that suffer from hemodynamic instability or stuck valve as well as all cases of chest trauma.
•Adjustment of arterial blood gases and serum electrolytes.
•nsertion of central venous line.
•Insertion of arterial line.
•Extubation of the patient from ventilation.
•Re-intubation of the patient for ventilation.
•Management of arrhythmia.
•Insertion of intra-aortic balloon pump.
•Chest tube insertion for pleural effusion drainage for any cause.
•Thoracotomy for chest exploration in cases of hemothorax.
•Reopening patients in cases of surgical postoperative bleeding.
Attending the outpatient clinic:
To follow up patients after discharge from the hospital.
Lecturer and Assistant lecturer in Cardiothoracic Surgery Department:
I shared as a first assistant in many operations including the following:
• Coronary artery bypasses (CABG) operations.
• Valve replacement operations.
• ASD and VSD closure.
• Correction of Fallot's tetralogy.
• PDA ligation.
• Palliative shunts as modified BT shunt, Glenn shunt and PA banding.
• Resection of lung lobes (lobectomy).
I have operated as a primary surgeon the following operations:
• Open mitral valve replacement.
• Mitral valve replacement through thoracotomy.
• Aortic valve replacement.
• Tricuspid valve repair.
• Double valves replacement.

Postoperative and emergency shifts:
•Receiving patients after open heart surgery in the Cardiothoracic Care Unit (CTCU) to follow up them, and also receiving any complicated cases after remote surgery that suffer from hemodynamic instability or stuck valve, as well as cases of chest trauma.
•Chest tube insertion for pleural effusion drainage.
•Thoracotomy for exploration in cases of hemothorax to control bleeding.
•Reopening patients in cases of surgical postoperative bleeding.
•Attendance of the annually meeting of the Egyptian Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
•Attendance of MD scientific sessions presented by members and professors in the Egyptian Cardiothoracic Surgery Society.
In addition, I did many clinical attachments in the UK:
•The first one was for one month with Mr. Raghab Hassan in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department, Manchester Royal Infirmary Hospital, Manchester, UK.
• I shared in one of the audits and it was about (Deep Postoperative Sternal Wound Cost).
•The second clinical attachment was in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department, Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, UK for six weeks with Mr. Isaac Kadir.
Recently I have done a clinical attachment in Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, UK, for 6 months with two consultants, Mr Shackcloth who is a thoracic surgeon and Mr. Aung Aoo who is a cardiac surgeon.

Surgery Department and participating in presenting topics such as
myocardial protection, aortic aneurysm, postoperative

 Attendance of MD scientific sessions presented by members and
professors in the Egyptian Cardiothoracic Surgery Society.
