Functioned as Resident Architect/facility Manager to follow up with the academic, residential and infrastructure project design and construction on campus including;
• Engineering building (approx 6000sqm): Construction coordination of new classes, laboratories, lecture halls, computer classes, offices, and other ancillary spaces. Liaised with the und-user (faculty and administrators), consulted with project architect and contractors to complete the project as per program requirements and pre-set budget by the government.
• Academic Library: Design and construction coordination of interiors space (approx. 2500sqm). Liaised with University Librarian to establish library program and space planning. Spaces included open stack, reading, special collection, and support offices, meeting rooms and supporting services. Coordinated IT requirements with furniture and lighting layout. Followed up with construction and post occupancy.
• Central Daycare Center - A renovation of an existing shell into a daycare center for Faculty children. Conducted research, programming, design, and construction coordination.
• Senate Conference Room: Design and construction coordination of approx. 150sqm of audio-visual space.
• Faculty and student housing design and construction coordination: two-bedroom villas design and built in 2001. Additionally, one and three-bedroom villas design proposals in 2002.
• School of Architecture & Design (AD1-Existing): Interior project: Initiated Interior programming and design based on revised curriculum needs, coordinated the renovation and construction of an existing academic building (approx. 5000 sq m) in 2000.
• School of Architecture & Design (AD2-New)): Coordinated pre-occupancy punch
Assisted in the coordination of design execution of development activities for the Palm Deira islands, including workshops and reviews of projects such as Business Park complex, First Complex (housing, retail and office), Iconic Hotel, Sales Office Interiors, Island Bridges.
Re-engineered ongoing projects phasing’s, in the context of company financial constraints, to become inline with the 2009 budget plan while preserving the original design intention. In summary, I have;
• Assisted in the development of overall development plan and strategies.
• Critiqued and reported on all design, urban planning, roadway, transit, and development issues affecting the overall design principals of Palm Deira.
• Assisted the Planning and Development Managers in the design impact and requirements of development.
• Provided the necessary reports and presentation of planning and building designs as required.
• Liaised with the end user to ensure design meets the requirements pre and post construction.
• Research and develop design standards and best practices, which are to be implemented within Palm Deira.
• Maintained a favorable working relationship with all associates, consultants, and government officials to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment.
Directed architecture and interior design programs for two leading retail centers in the region.
• Developed competition brief for the new Burjuman Centre expansion, a mixed-use project with a total area of 4.4 million square feet, including a 22-storey office tower and a residential complex (approx 1.4 billion dirham or $381 million) and assessed the final design proposals by the International firms. Followed through to final firm selection.
• Administered the Center’s renovation design and construction documents (from design programming to post occupancy), and coordinated with the Center Engineering Department for the ongoing technical evaluations.
• Acted as tenant coordinator to review and approve design and construction of high profile international retail spaces. Worked with Leasing Department to assess tenant selection and space allocation. Assisted Marketing Department to coordinate promotional and special event proposals
Acted as Facility Manager in managing retail design and construction of new projects in the Middle East region. Inter-phased and coordinated with the International Marketing Department to determine new regional locations, assessed target locations, and prepared programming and feasibility studies. Initiated design proposals and coordinated design and construction documents with the New York Head Office. Prepared construction documents and evaluated local contractors RFPs. Reviewed and awarded contracts, administered construction contracts and implemented quality control, and issued final fit-out report for move-in.
Managed design and construction of high-end corporate and commercial office interior projects; including financial institutions, law firms, bank branches, and retail spaces. Responsibilities included project administration, feasibility studies and site analysis, construction budgeting and scheduling, consultants coordination. Administered site meetings, coordinated construction documents, reviewed and implemented safety code and specification, analyzed RFP and awarded bid, assessed and processed change orders and shop drawing, and acted as project team supervisor.
Held a senior management position to conduct new business development and marketing. Managed design and construction of educational and financial projects, residential and affordable housing, and high-end interior projects. Administered all phases of projects, from site analysis to client move-in and post occupancy evaluation.
Produced, coordinated, and implemented design and construction documents for high-end interior architecture projects. Coordinated consultant documents for MEP, structure, lighting, power and communications, and FF&E. Analyzed governing safety and building codes, and reviewed submittals and shop drawings. Administered change orders, monitored construction progress and prepared project reports.
Assumed designer/architect position to developed conceptual, schematic and design development drawings plus detail models and presentation drawings for a wide range of notable architectural projects including a State library, art museum, manufacturing plant, pharmaceutical company headquarters, hotel, residential, and historic landmark preservation.
