Description: Fast track emergency power project consisting of 4 Gas turbine frame 9E 125 MW/unit by GE. Accomplished the engineering, procurement and construction in a record breaking time of 7 months, and utilized excellent command of engineering practices to lead completion of civil work (1100 piles, pile caps, turbine pedestals, stack foundations, underground networks for gas, water and cables, GIS building, admin and control building, roads). Also, led the electromechanical work for Generator step up transformers 165 MVA 15 kv/220K, GCB& IPB, gas and fuel stations, fire fighting substation, water treatment and tanks.

• 2009/2010: ADWEA BOOT WWTP PROJECT -ISTP1 (US$ 500 Million); Abu Dhabi, UAE
Description: Executed water and waste water treatment project (350 000 m3/Day) comprising of pumping stations, screening & filtering stations, primary/secondary sedimentation tanks, aeration tanks, anaerobic digesters (The tanks were lined with various coating types: PVC- Epoxy & Polyurea), and large under and above ground services network (power and control cables - GRP, HDPE & PVC pipes of different dia. up to 2000mm ), treated water tank, buildings, roads and landscape.

Provided direction to technical departments of the international joint venture to enable construction of Phase IB of the Lesotho highland water project- largest cross border water control and development project facilitating the delivery of water from Lesotho to South Africa, and the development of hydro-electric power in Lesotho. The scope of this project included a series of dams, reservoirs, and hydro-electric plant and transfer tunnels to carry water to the Vall river system in South Africa. Mohale Dam consists mainly of concrete face rock fill dam (146 m high& 7.5 millions cu. m of rock fill and transition material, concrete lined ungated spillway 300 m long, and two horse shoe-shaped diversion tunnels.

• Conceptualized and introduced alternative design for the dam's upstream face; conducted negotiations and research, and communicated cost/time savings, and improvement of water tightness to client to secure approval.
• Developed and implemented Quality management system; conceived and implemented the cost control system to ensure project completion within available funds, and optimized resource allocation.
• Devised new inspection methods to confirm that levels of settlements and water leakage remain below permissible limits; managed the contract administration leading to successful realization of several claims.
• Introduced concrete mixes for the mass concrete sections of spillway to control heat of hydration utilizing 40% fly ash.
• Formulated a system streamlining quarry and rock fill process including plans for access roads and resource provision, thus resulting in 7.5 million cubic meter of rock fill in under 2 years.

Controlled the comprehensive QA system and material testing for Nathpa Jhakri Hydroelectric Project- the largest tunneling job in India comprises the construction of 12 km long, 10.15 m diameter head race tunnel using New Austrian Tunneling Method, and a 300 m deep 22.6 m diameter surge shaft with total value of the contract exceeding US$ 300 million.

Highlights:
• Developed the mix design, in addition to inspecting and testing over 23000 cubic meters of wet and dry shotcrete sprayed as initial support for the tunnel and surge shaft during excavation phase.
• Designed, inspected and tested 65000 cubic meters for the shaft, and surge shaft lining, including special mixes for concrete in severe exposure conditions including high temperature and sulphate attack.
• Investigated and monitored the performance of tunnel supporting elements such as rock bolts and steel ribs in challenging rock conditions.

Oversaw the QA system, material inspection and testing for the construction of New Esna Barrage and power project over Nile river D/S of: navigation lock with 160mx17m lock chamber, power plant 92m long x 59.5m wide containing 6 turbines of bulb type, spillway of 172m length and 35m width comprising 11 bays equipped with 12m wide radial gates, earth and rockfill dam 520m long, and plastic concrete diaphragm wall under the dam and concrete structures.

Highlights:
• Established concrete mix design for all grades of concrete; controlled concrete production process resulting in the production of 300, 000 cubic meters of concrete with excellent degree of control in sync with ACI criteria.
• Prepared and implemented inspection and test plan for the placement of one million cubic meters of earth and rockfill in closure dam and embankment.
• Successfully introduced inspection system for all construction material including factory inspection for 130, 000 ton of cement produced for the first time in Egypt.
• Developed proficiency in geotechnical investigation, design and construction of temporary cofferdam and diaphragm wall in self-hardening mud and dewatering system, thus enabling the construction activities to take place 20m below river water level.
