Mechanical Piping Engineer at Petronas Technical Services Sdn Bhd (PTSSB)

As Snr Piping Engineer at Centralized Engineering Office in Dubai to oversee overall engineering support for Garraf Development Projects (Iraq) by PCIHBV.
Amongst the roles and accomplishments:

1) Project/Technical Support: Procurement and Delivery of Long Lead Item (LLI) for Garraf Projects
- Act as Package Lead for the procurement of LLI equipment, i.e. for new technology equipment, Multiport Flow Selector (MPFS) to be utilized at all new wellpads.
- Carried out new technology assessment and presented to Petronas new technology review committee.
- Developed technical specifications and datasheet for MPFS to suit project specific requirements. No previous data is available as reference within Petronas database.
- Lead the procurement activities, participated during MPFS Type Acceptance Test (TAT) at manufacturing location.

2) Project/Technical Support: Mitigation of piping materials shortage for Garraf projects due to logistic and authority approval issues faced in Iraq.
- Act as Package Lead to procure selected piping bulk materials (e.g. valves, fittings, injection quill) which were meant as capital spare kept ready on site.
- Preparation of Material Take-Off (MTO) and identify the need items based on frequency of usage and lead time.
- Procured five (5) mini packages of different type of equipment worth of USD2.5mil.
- Carried out technical and commercial evaluation, preparation of Technical Evaluation Report (TER) and Techno-Commercial Evaluation and Award Recommendation (TCEAR).
- Tracking of manufacturing progress until delivery to site.

3) Technical Support: Resolving site-engineering issues of multiple on-going construction projects in Iraq. Amongst them:
- Attending site technical queries on the issue of late arrival of equipment that affected the first oil date from new wellpad. Resolved the issue by re-engineering of piping connection with the introduction of bypass line and temporary manifold.
- Assist site team to resolve the seal leakage problem for the existing MPFS. Coordination with manufacturer to identify root cause of the failure and had come out with the enhanced design.

4) Technical Support: Provision of site construction support to ensure timely delivery of projects. Amongst them:
- Team Leader during FCP plant shutdown to supervise piping tie-in work for one of the Work Package for FCP Upgrading Project. Coordinate the completion of the work during tight plant shutdown duration by scrutinizing the work pre-shutdown, during shutdown and post-shutdown.

Mechanical Piping Engineer at Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB)

Work as Mechanical Piping Engineer at Petronas's upstream subsidiary having the assets in Malaysia.

1) Project: FEED For Dalak Pipeline Project
Client: PCSB
Duration: 6 months
Description:
A pipeline project to divert 150MMscfd of gas from Sabah Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) at Sipitang to Petronas Methanol Labuan (PML) Plant. Main development is a 44km, 16” Carbon Steel pipeline, which cover both onshore and offshore territory. Other than that, there will be a pig launcher and pig receiver facilities at both end of the pipeline. At PML, several modification will be required on existing gas receiving terminal by having filter separator, electrical heater and metering system.

Responsibilities:
- Piping Engineer and acted as Client Representative at consultant office to monitor progress and schedule, review technical documents and ensure specification’s compliance throughout FEED duration.
- Carried out site visit to sites to identify and verify the tie-in points, and gather engineering input for design work.
- Review of Piping Design Basis, Plot Plan, Piping Materials Specification, Pipe Support Design, and Pipe Stress Analysis Design Basis and Report.
- Participated in all project governance review sessions carried out during FEED, e.g. HAZOP, HAZID, PRA, 3D Model Review, etc.
- Team Leader for ITB preparation for EPCC contract. Perform tendering exercise until award of EPCC.

2) Project: EPCC of MCOT Rejuvenation Ph2

Duration: 1 year
Description:
PCSB is undertaking a plant rejuvenation project for Miri Crude Oil Terminal (MCOT) plant. The work is a major brownfield modification involving addition of new equipment/system as well as existing system upgrading. Amongst the work scope is the upgrading of Free Water Knock-Out System (FWKO), new Induced Gas Floatation (IGF) system, upgrading of Produced Water Treatment system, and addition of storage tank.

Responsibilities:
- Worked as a Piping Engineer with PMT to ensure completion of construction work for the project.
- Supervise daily piping construction progress such as fit-up work, welding, NDT, PWHT and painting.
- Tracking of piping productivity (by dia-inch) against the project schedule.
- Execute the multiple piping tie-in during Plant Turnaround for the project. Coordinate and manage the work to meet tight shutdown period.
- Managed the vendor for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, for example for slop oil heater and IGF.

Responsibilities:
- Worked as site construction engineer overseeing overall fabrication progress of the project.
- To ensure engineering drawings are readily available to meet the construction timeline.
- To track the materials delivery and availability to support continuous fabrication productivity.
- To ensure QA/QC compliance during construction by managing QC teams to catch-up with the progress, e.g for fit-up, welding, and NDT.
