Test, commissioning and start up of QATALUM Cast house plant (Foundry Alloy and Extrusion Ingots Production Lines);

Ensure correct functionality, operability and safety of Cast-house equipment;

Establish maintenance task lists, review and adjust them as required;

Ensure that the PM task lists are executed on time, under the correct standards and quality;

Ensure that Cast-house processes comply to ISO standards requirements relevant to the satisfaction of customers demands;

Develop isolation procedures leading to safe execution of Planned and Corrective Maintenance tasks;

Ensure the correct identification of spare parts for the equipment;

Trend equipment performance and establish corrective measures to reduce downtime;

Ensure low Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and high Mean Time between Failures (MTBF).

Improve the reliability of equipment through continuous improvement;

Assist with the correct information and data feeding into the RCAs and the implementation of appropriate corrective measures.

Coach maintenance technicians and supervisors, as well as production personnel;

Identify gaps in knowledge among technicians, supervisors and operators and train the personnel as required;

Identify gaps in equipment performance and implement corrective measures.

Identify opportunities leading to low cost maintenance of equipment;

Develop, implement and update the Automation Mini-Business for Excellence in the Lab;
Ensure team’s goals alignment to Corporate goals;
Develop team members skills and behavior towards the achievement of Excellence in delivering services through standards and best practices;
-Develop and implement Maintenance Plans (Preventative and Corrective);
Management of Contract Agreements
Share knowledge in best practices benchmarking meetings with the sister smelters of Hill-side, Bayside and across BHP Billiton;
Identify improvement opportunities on a continuous basis, plan for, execute and control effectiveness of applied solutions;
Coach new Automation technicians, train and develop them for the position;
Liaise with the University and mentor graduates in acquainting themselves with industrial processes at MOZAL;
Make sure spare parts are available;
Promote health & safety and housekeeping (5S) among team members and among the contractors;

Commissioning of MOZAL Cast-house plant Phase 1 (1999) and Phase 2 (Aug 2003);

Drive improvement of MOZAL Cast-house Processes from the commissioning thereafter;

Ensure reliability of equipment in terms of functionality, operability and availability, by improving Automatic control systems;

Ensure integrity of computerized maintenance data and systems backups;

Conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement measures for equipment effectiveness;

Coach and support Maintenance team in their duties and career path objectives;
Drive change in behavior and technical skills towards achieving Excellence in business at MOZAL, among permanent employees and contractors;
Drive cost effectiveness of processes in use by optimizing energy consumption, reducing failures, and improving the lifecycle of equipment;
Establish measures for improved stability of systems and quick recovery in case of any effected risk;

Deliver lectures in Power Electronics to final year Engineering students, in the Department of Electrical Engineering;

Deliver lectures in Automatic Control to final year Engineering students, in the Department of Electrical Engineering;

Deliver lectures in Automatic Control to final year Engineering students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering;

Deliver lectures in Analogue Electronics in the Department of Electrical Engineering;

Coach students in the learning process, including writing dissertations;

Prepare class materials;

Evaluate students;

Drive consultancy and support services to the Industry in Industrial Process Control and Applied electronics from the Centre For Electronics and Instrumentation;

Perform workshops and presentations;

Build know-how and share with team.
