Detailed Description of Accounting Work and Responsibilities: As a Senior Accountant with over 20 years of experience at the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society, I was responsible for a wide range of accounting and financial management tasks essential to ensuring transparency, accuracy, and compliance with financial regulations. My role included: • Financial Reporting: Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with international accounting standards. Ensured timely and accurate reporting to management and donors. • Budget Management: Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets for various humanitarian projects and operational departments. Conducted variance analysis to ensure budget adherence. • General Ledger and Journal Entries: Maintaining and reconciling the general ledger accounts. Posting and reviewing journal entries for accuracy and completeness. • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Managing all aspects of payables and receivables, including invoice verification, payment processing, donor receivables, and aging analysis. • Bank Reconciliation: Conducting regular bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies to maintain accurate cash flow records. • Audit Coordination: Preparing audit schedules and liaising with internal and external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes and ensure regulatory compliance. • Payroll Processing: Managing employee payroll, including calculation of salaries, deductions, benefits, and ensuring timely payments in accordance with labor laws. • Inventory and Fixed Assets: Overseeing the accounting for inventory and fixed assets, including tagging, depreciation, and disposal processes. • Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensuring compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and financial regulations. Implementing and monitoring internal control procedures to safeguard assets and prevent fraud. • Financial Support for Projects: Providing financial support and reporting for humanitarian aid projects, including emergency relief efforts, healthcare programs, and food distribution initiatives. This role required high attention to detail, integrity, and a deep understanding of accounting principles in a nonprofit and humanitarian context. My experience has equipped me with the ability to handle complex financial systems, support large-scale operations, and contribute to the organization’s mission through strong financial stewardship.
