In my role as the Commercial Manager at tudawe Brothers (Pvt) Ltd, I am entrusted with overseen all commercial management activities to ensure the successful financial and contractual management of construction projects. My responsibilities include ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all legal and contractual requirements.
To achieve final project objectives, my role as the commercial manager encompasses various key areas, including Contract Management, Cost Control, Procurement, Risk Management, Financial Analysis, Change Management, Dispute Resolution, Compliance, Reporting, Leadership & Team Management, Client Relation and effective communication.
I possess proficiency in utilizing software and tools that enhance commercial management processes. This includes utilization of ERP system, Primavera, MS Projects, and AutoCAD, Planswift, MS Office packages, Power BI and method of measurement, POMI, NRM2 & SLS573, and FIDIC Condition of Contract.
As the Cost Manager at the Nawaloka Construction Company (Pvt) Ltd, my role encompassed a diverse set of responsibilities. These included Cost Estimation, Budget Management, Procurement & Tendering, Cost Controlling, Value Engineering, Change Management, Risk Management, Quantity Takeoff & Measurement, Contract Administration, Reporting, Analytical skills, and Communication. In this capacity, I played a vital role in ensuring the financial success and efficiency of construction projects. Through diligent attention to detail and effective communication, I successfully managed the complexities associated with cost-related aspects, contributing significantly to the overall success of the projects under my purview.
The FIDIC Condition of Contract are used for contractual work and POMI, NRM2 & SLS573 are employed as method of measurements. Additionally, I utilized Primavera, MS Project, MS Office package for daily task and along with AutoCAD as design tool.
In my role at Sun Construction as the Snr Quantity Surveyor, I was the responsible for a comprehensive range of tasks that encompassed Cost Estimation, Budget Management, Procurement & Tendering, Cost Controlling, Value Engineering, Change Management, Risk Management, Quantity Takeoff & Measurement, Contract Administration, Reporting, Analytical skills, Client Relation Quality Assurance, Leadership, and Communication
I utilized the SLS573 as method of measurement and employed tools such as Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and the MS office packages in my role, and it is used FIDIC as Condition of Contract.
In my role at Sun Construction as a Quantity Surveyor, I played a critical role supporting the Project Manager by preparing Interim payment certificates, reviewing and verifying them through the process of taking off measurement & quantities. Additionally, I actively engaged in various processes including Cost Estimation, Budget Management, Procurement & Tendering, Cost Controlling, Value Engineering, Change Management, Risk Management, Contract Administration, Reporting, Analytical skills, Client Relation Quality Assurance, Leadership, and Communication.
I utilized the AutoCAD and MS Office packages in my daily works, and I followed SLS573 as method of measurement. It was referred FIDIC as Condition of Contract.
As a Design & Construction Engineer at Engineering Consultant Ltd, I was responsible for designing Canals, Irrigation Structures, and Canal Roads. This involved preparing of construction drawings and obtaining approvals from the client. My role extended participating in work through survey, preparing work schedules, review and verifying estimates, obtaining necessary approvals, planning, programing, and closely monitoring progress. I attended progress meeting with sub-contractors and employer, prepared meeting minutes & reports, directed the project crews to ensure required progress. Effective coordinating with client & contractors was also a crucial aspect of responsibilities.
For design works, the AutoCAD was utilized, while MS Office was utilized for other processes such as estimation and reporting etc.
I was recruited as a Civil Engineer at Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka, and promoted starting as an Irrigation Engineer and step up positions such as Project Engineer, Design Engineer and Resident Project Manager. The primary function of the Technical service Division at the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka is to oversee the management of water resources in the Mahaweli System H, aiming to achieve optimal benefits. This involves an integrated approach to address the irrigation, drinking, and environmental needs of the system.
In my capacity as the Deputy Resident Manager, I directed, motivated, and guided the project office team to maximize benefits by effectively managing water resources, ensuring timely operations, and maintaining irrigation canals, structures, and canal roads.
During my tenure as a Project Engineer, I took on the responsibility of operating and maintaining the Head Works in System H, which included Dambulu Oya, Kandalama, and Kalawewa reservoirs, as well as the main canal systems.
In the role of Design Engineer, I undertook the design of irrigation structures in the Maduru Oya R.B. Main Canal development Works. This encompassed outlet structures, regulators, retaining walls, etc.
As an Irrigation Engineer at Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka, my main role was water management for the cultivation of an extent of 3500 hectares. I was also involved in routine maintenance and repairs of the canal system, structures, canal roads, office facilities, and staff accommodation buildings.
I am responsible for supervising reinforcement, formwork, concrete work, and masonry activities to ensure progress align with the established program. Additionally, I provide regular progress reports to the Head Office.
