Samba Financial Group is one of the leading commercial bank of the Saudi Arabia. It has various branches in Saudi Arabia operating in London, Dubai & Pakistan. I’m working as a “System Analyst/Programmer” from Country House for Information Technology, Addar Group in Samba Financial Group in Treasury and providing End User Computing Support in different units of Treasury. In current role, I’m responsible to look after the needs of Treasury Front Office & DCEO Business users for their data mining & extraction, pricing sheets development, market analysis, and various other strategic business reports.

Following are the brief detail of activities & contributions related to development & maintenance supports & administration.

■ As System Analyst / End User Computing Support Analyst:

• Hands on experience of developing Pricing models for the Quantitative Analytics Desk, International Equity and SAR desk. These models include Trade Risk, Markov Simulation, Daily Market Trend Analysis of Currency Pairs, P & L Calculator, RSI Simulation and CMCI Simulation using live data from Bloomberg & Reuters.
• Data extraction in the form of XML from SambaSTEP (Samba Smart Trading Electronic Platform) system and uploading the data into another application developed in Microsoft technologies and generating reports.
• Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) Package Automation which includes presentation slides for Islamic Balance Sheet, Portfolio Summary, Maturity Schedule, and Available Sources for REPO, Samba Pakistan /London/ KSA Balance Sheet Variances & SFS Consolidated Slides. Besides this an intermediate excel report is being generate for CMS Revaluation & all GL entries.
• Dealing Chat Review model in excel to review all 10 years chat from Reuter Trading Platform generated as text file daily.
• Designed & developed Billing & Invoicing application using advanced technique of Excel.
• Designed & developed web based system “Log Tracking System” for Treasury Technology Support Team in JAVA platform.
• Designed & developed and maintenance of web based “Inventory System” to track hardware & Software inventory using JAVA technology.
• Enhancement & Maintenance Support for Sales & Distribution MIS reports Generated from Kondor System.
• Reuters Market Data Download Monitoring & Support.

■ Administration Support to DCEO Business Group & Technology Support Unit :

• Market Data Administration of the Thomson Reuters (Now Refinitiv) DACSv7.3 (Data Access Control System) to maintain user’s Market Data access for Samba Capital, Treasury Front Office and Operation users and allowing them to access data from international exchanges like CBT or CME.
• Communicating with market data vendors for invoices and billing specially Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters for Budgeting and allocating cost on monthly basis for business groups in Samba Financial Group.
• Preparing presentations for Rating Agencies, SFG Forecast & Plans and HR reporting for DCEO Business Group.
• Preparing & tracking Purchase Orders for IT & stationary related items used in Samba Treasury.
• RICS Model in excel to generate report on semi-annual basis to see RICs consumption with in Treasury.

MS Web Application Developer at Saudi Aramco

Saudi Aramco is the global petroleum, top exporter of the natural liquid gas and gas producer enterprise of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). It has operations in explorations, production, refining, marketing and international shipping and operates the Kingdom’s nationwide petroleum products distribution network.
Being a developer & consultant, I was providing services as a “MS Web Application Developer cum Analyst/Programmer” for Engineering Drawing Unit (EDU), one of the units of Engineering Services & Support Division (ESSD) of Saudi Aramco from Al-Othman Consultants. I was performing the tasks of design, development, implementation and support on project for different clients with in Saudi Aramco. During my tenure, I used technology like VB.Net, C#, XML, Oracle 9i, Toad, JSP, Servlets, JavaBeans, JDBC, and Sun Application Server 7.0 (for deployment), Tomcat 4.0, JDK 1.4.2, Erwin, Adobe Element Reader Extension Server, Adobe Professional 6.0, Microstation 8.5
Brief summary of the projects:
• Engineering Drawing Implementation: This project was consists of two stages Data conversion and defining business process. This project eased the task of “Operation and Maintenance” staffs to access drawings and related information with in the drawing. I was involved in writing batch jobs or utilities in VB.Net (console application) and enhancing the jobs written earlier in eReview web application to upload thousand of drawings and documents.
More than 70, 000 drawings and documents (word & excel) of Hawiyah Gas plant were used.
• Web-based eReview (ereview.aramco.com.sa): Web-based Engineering Drawing Review Application (eReview) was a process of conducting periodic design reviews for the projects in Saudi Aramco. This application was designed for Project Support & Control Division (PS&CD) and Contractors, who does periodic reviews of project proposals and detailed designs. Application enabled them to deliver project proposal (Word documents) and detailed design drawings documents to the desktop of hundreds of reviewers to comment on those documents and streamed line the reviews and made comments available during and after the review. This application had workflow from initiation to the completion of the project. This was my first project on J2EE platform. Different utilities were developed in VB.Net and C# to upload drawings, words and excel documents into Oracle Blob object after converting them into PDF using Microstation 8.5.
• SMS (sms.aramco.com.sa): SMS (Short Messaging Service) was a web-based intranet application and service to support other applications to send SMS to thousand of employees providing services in different division in Saudi Aramco. This application was divided into two main features SMS through 1.Web/2.Email Interface. Complete application level security was in place. By using web interface, users can send single/Bulk SMS to single mobile or group of mobile numbers with in the KSA. A separate POP3 Mail Agent was developed to read emails from Aramco’s account (sms_web@exchange.aramco.com.sa) and after performing certain security checks messages and mobile numbers were moved into SMS database to air finally. To meet these requirements, a separate console batch job was written in VB.Net to read email account. This batch job has been scheduled to run after each two minutes, so, it takes around five minutes to shoot one SMS message, initiated from client application to the final destination that is user’s mobile numbers.
• Skills Inventory System (skills.aramco.com.sa): Intranet web-based application was developed to keep track of technical qualification of ISSD (Integrated Solutions Services Department) employees both full time and contractors.

DEFLOG specializes in providing logistics support and project management services to Pakistan NAVY and served as coordinator between Pakistan NAVY and DCNLOG, DEFLOG is responsible to expedite the process of procurement of mechanical parts for Naval Ships and submarines. To meet this requirement, DEFLOG had developed in-house software product, OMTS (Order Management & Tracking System) to speed up this procurement.
During my short tenure in DEFLOG, I was involved, as an Analyst/Programmer, in defining the business process and database design. This system was intended to design as client-server base desktop application which was under development using cutting edge technologies like VB.Net, SQL Server 2000, when I left this organization.

I was designated as “Web Developer cum Analyst/Programmer” and was involved in projects developed in technologies like ASP.Net, VB.Net, Web Services, Crystal Reports for .Net & SQL Server 2000.
Following is the brief synopsis of the projects:
• EventLogiK (www.eventlogik.com): A web-based staffing site was developed for a client Cabezon to provide both employees and employer to meet at single point by posting CVs and job listings respectively.
• ERA (Employee Review Application): Intranet based web-based application was developed, for client CW-Driver, to generate automated emails to employees to start their performance review sessions by filling forms and questionnaires.

MazikUSA Consulting & Resources (www.mazikusa.com), was a US based software house had Head office in US and offshore office in Karachi, Pakistan. It had many local clients in Pakistan and abroad. This software company was acquired by Tyler Technologies in US.
As an Analyst/Programmer, I was involved in development of various projects in MazikUSA Consulting & Resources for its local as well as international clients. During my tenure, I got exposure to new development technologies like VB.NET, ASP.Net, Visio 4.5, FrontPage 2000, Erwin 4.0 S, QL Server 2000 and Crystal Report 8.
Following was major projects on which I was involved as a team member.

- School Management System (SMS): Web based application was developed for clients in US like Schools, Training Institutes or Educational Organizations. SMS application allows school administrators to set all the necessary parameters and define their own setup information as they see fit with any number of grades, classes, sections, courses, student’s registration, building information etc. Administrator can perform any task to manage their school, including updating, adding, or deleting these parameters. Teachers and other staff members can complete their day to day functions via easy to use menu driven screens.

• CompuTax (Tax calculation software): Desktop application for calculating Tax for local client MZ Associate a law firm.
• Card Embossing System: This application, was developed for CITI Bank Karachi, to provide solution to bank to emboss customer name and picture on Credit Cards.

Aero Asia International Airlines (Pvt.) Ltd. was a well-reputed and biggest Airline of the private sector in Pakistan with offices all over Pakistan and abroad until ceased its operation in March 2007.
