My recent postdoctoral research work is focused to synthesize and crystallize of Pt(II), Au(I) and Au(III) metal-organic anticancer and anti bacterial compounds. My additional duties are teaching and supervising two Ph.D and three master students. I am also doing the Single Crystal X-ray analysis of my own compounds and also assisted my group fellows and other collaborators for the X-ray analysis of their compounds.

Being a scientist and inorganic chemistry teacher, I have continually varied its structure and composition in an attempt to find the most effective format. The constant feature of the courses have been their focus on fundamental principles in inorganic chemistry and advantages of metal based chemistry in human life. Many inorganic chemistry courses around the country are taught as technique surveys. It has been the collective agreement of the primary instructors of our course that it is more important to expose our students to the underlying principles behind these techniques than it is to teach them the details of the techniques themselves, which are often rapidly changing and may be very different by the time the student encounters them in their work.

In 2005, I was invited to join Faculty of Chemistry as a doctorate fellow in the research group of Prof. Helen Stoeckli-Evans for nanoporous materials and chemical crystallography at the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland and obtained doctorate (PhD) degree in August 2008 with distinction. During PhD; my research was focused on the synthesis of ligands and metal based metal based anticancer and tuberculosis compounds and networks for potential applications for medicinal purposes. I wrote my thesis under the title “Silver(I) and Other Coin Metal Complexes of N, O, S and P containing Ligands: Structures and Biological Properties”. Metal based medicinal chemistry research involves the development of new synthetic methods and strategies, and investigations towards their potential applications and understanding the crucial structure-property relationships in them. This enables us to engineer new materials at the molecular level to give optimal performance.
