Main responsibilities:
• Fault analysis and resolution of transport network through NMS (U2000).
• Provide Level 1 & II support to keep network performance at satisfactory level.
• Configurations of new circuits & transmission media provisioning on demand of other departments (E1, E3, STM-1, Concatenated VC4-4/16) services.
• Configuration of protection schemes, clock flow, EOW etc from NMS.
• Configuration of following Ethernet services to support any type of traffic demand (3G services, LAN establishment)

 1) Ethernet Private Line (EPL) 2) Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL)
 3) Ethernet Private LAN (EPLAN) 4) Ethernet Virtual Private LAN (EVPLAN)
• Preparation & Presentation of performance & fault analysis reports along with proactive maintenance suggestions.
• Acceptance testing of optical fiber links with fiber vendor and follow up with them in order to minimize the restoration time in case of fiber cut.
• Support to other departments (BSS, NSS etc) for integration & fault trouble shooting. Support for cutovers of NodeBs, RNCs & MSCs.
• Plan & perform optimization activities throughout network either to straighten cross connects at software level or to use hardware resources efficiently.
• Responsible for smooth deployment of new SDH/WDM/IP Core entities into the network, system extensions & software upgrades to fulfill capacity & quality requirements.
• Coordination with planning team & vendors for smooth execution of O&M activities.
• To provide feedback to planning teams for forecasting future traffic trends & help in dimensioning backhaul as well as metro transport networks in light of those recommendations.

Transmission Planning Engineer at Mobilink (An Orascom Telecom Company)

Mobilink is a subsidiary of Egyptian based Orascom Telecom group. It is the largest cellular operator of Pakistan both from coverage perspective as well as customer base.
Main responsibilities:

• Planning of SDH/DWDM based transport networks (both back haul & metro) in my region.
• Link budget planning & preparation of BoQs for optical fiber based transport systems.
• Finalization of Acceptance test procedures for nodes and link commissioning.
• Planning of all traffic migrations from MW media to newly established optical fiber media & provide strategy file to O&M for execution of this project.
• Planning of ASON protection mechanism of different types (Diamond, Gold, Silver etc) as per importance of traffic type to be protected. Provide the plan to configuration teams for implementation of ASON. Coordination with OSP team for establishment of more physical routes for optimization of ASON project.
• To analyze network KPIs continuously to predict future requirements.
• To have strong communication band with O&M team to have feedback of planning strategies and suggestions for further improvement.
• To remain in touch with continuously evolving world of new transmission technologies so that future planning strategies could be evolved.

Main achievements:

• Mobilink was pioneer in establishing optical fiber based transport networks in cellular operators of Pakistan & I was member of team who planned it.
• Planned all traffic migrations from MW media to this fiber based transmission network.
• Planned ASON & SNCP protections for the network to add resilience in network stability.
• I saw fastest increase in history of this company (approximately 10 million customer increase per annum.) and we always supported to this increase from transmission planning point of view (no stoppage to any expansion in network due to transmission side.)

Optical Fiber Transmission Network Engineer at Zong Zing Telecom Company Pvt. Ltd.

ZTE is a Chinese vendor company and grasped major projects from cellular operators in Pakistan in start of 2005. It offers services in all fields of telecommunication sector.
Main responsibilities:

• Part of team who installed, commissioned, configured & finally offered Acceptance testing to clients for SDH/DWDM based transport networks.
• Worked on wide range of SDH/DWDM products of ZTE like ZXMP-S385, S-390 & ZXWM-M900.
• Performed optical fiber cable terminations by testing end to end quality of fiber links using Light source meter, power meter & OTDR.
• Performing following tests during acceptance testing with customers.
 1) E-1 testing 2) STM-1/4/16/64 optical cards mean launch power tests.
 3) insertion loss 4) STM-1/4/16/64 optical cards receiver sensitivity.
 5) MSP switching 6) ASON, SNCP protection switching from NMS.
 7) Physical cards active/standby switching both from NMS & physically
 8) Jitter & Wander tests.
 Provided training of equipment handling & SDH/WDM technologies working principles to customers.
 Handled customer problems & queries.
 Performed traffic cutover activities as per customer demand.
 Performed software up gradation of cards on customer network whenever required.

Main achievements:

• Established 2.5G/10G SDH/DWDM rings for different customers.
• Performed Acceptance testing with customer representatives for my region sites successfully.
• Provisioning of Level I to III support for all customer generated trouble tickets.
