BMA International is a consultancy and advisory firm engaged in a variety of business management, investment advisory, business process outsourcing, training and compliance & corporate governance related services.
Being founder and Managing Partner, my key responsibilities include overall smooth operations of the firm’s matters including business development, negotiation, execution and on time delivery of projects, hiring of staff with required skills set and maintaining customers relations etc.
Since the inception of the firm, we have delivered the following main projects;
- Corporate Restructuring of a leasing company operating in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, successfully spun off from other group companies, developed corporate framework and re-organization for independent operations, created policies and procedures, converted to IFRS compliant entity, made ready for SAMA compliance review.
- Providing books keeping services and CFO outsourcing facility to various KSA based entities.
- BMA alonwith a New York based transportation group, successfully raised USD 8 million for a New York City Transportation Project.
- Successfully closed an equity investment deal by bringing Chines investment of PKR 800 million for a textile unit operating in the Punjab area of Pakistan.
- Few main mandates in hand are, a USD 6 billion project of 36 berths Seaport along with a fish harbor in Pakistan and for a scheduled bank an investment of PKR 9 B in Tier 1 capital.

 Development of department and transaction level Audit programs keeping in view the strategic directions of the company & Board of Directors, regulators and parent bank to carry out Internal Audit Assignments with Risk Based Internal Auditing approach.
 Reporting to Audit Committee and responsible for smooth running of the committee business.
 Review and analysis of procedures, policies, workflows of all activities of the company to ensure adherence to the applicable regulations and over all group policies and to suggest improvements where required.
 To conduct operational audits of the various functions of the company to review of how their operating procedures are functioning with respect to their effectiveness and efficiency in meeting stated objectives

 Responsible for Finance, Accounting, budgeting, MIS, Cash Management, Risk Management, Human Resources & Administrative functions.
 Responsible for maintenance of books of accounts and preparation of financial statements in compliance with the requirements of local laws, IFRS and group policies.
 Responsible for financial, statutory & regulatory Capital Market Authority (CMA), Department of Zakat and Income Tax (DZIT) etc.) and group reporting to Amundi and BSF.
 Liaise with internal & external auditors, legal and tax advisors to deal with Zakat and Taxation issues.
 Responsible for directing and managing all aspects of the Risk Management associated with the investment managed by the company. This includes developing a structured and disciplined platform to monitor the market, liquidity and credit risks exposure, the mapping of risks, recommending responses and follow-up monitoring of risk exposure.
 Member of various committees including Management Committee, Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee and Investment Committee.

Major achievements:
 Played pivotal role in the formation of the Company, established finance department, recruited and trained finance team and implemented Oracle based accounting system.
 Designed and implemented various MIS reports and provided sound decision support to business heads and management.
 Created and strengthen a risk monitoring platform in the company.

 Overseeing the Financial Reporting function and ensuring compliance with the IAS / IFRS, all local regulations and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) directives and Sharia Compliance in case of Islamic Banking.
 Supervising all taxation matters of the Bank.
 Reporting to SBP Minimum Capital Requirements under Basel I & II Accords.
 Weekly liquidity reporting to SBP for Islamic Banking Division.
 Liaise with Sharia Advisor to ensure accounting of Islamic Banking Division is consistent and compliant with principles of Sharia.
 Overseeing management reporting addressing the key financial and operational issues and suggestions.
 Profit projection and variance analysis.
 Preparation and monitoring the budget to keep operating and capital expenditures with in budgeted parameters.
 Financial Analysis of the banking industry and comparison with the peer group banks.
 Liaison with the external auditors, internal auditors, SBP inspectors, Credit Rating Agency, tax advisor and other regulatory bodies.

Major achievements:
 Independently managed the Finance Department of the bank with team motivation and efficient performance.
 Played pivotal role in establishing Islamic Banking Division of the bank to start Islamic Banking and created a separate platform of separate book keeping and reporting for Islamic Banking.
 Restructured tax system and revised previous tax returns to claim tax benefits of millions of Rupees.
 Designed and implemented very strong MIS reports to helped management in strategic decisions making.

Joined PwC Pakistan, Karachi office in 1998 as audit trainee, completed my mandatory training of four years in 2002 and stayed with the firm till March 2005 serving in Karachi & Islamabad offices of the firm.
