Engaged as the Commercial Director, my role entails the establishment and leadership of the Commercial function for 3 giga programmes from startup while managing day to day tasks such as procurement and packaging strategy, cost planning, contract drafting and interpretation, cost reporting and post contract administration/management. The team that I lead provides advice and review of estimates on costs of facilities, theming and show/ride content. I provide executive level reporting on programme and project levels while managing and assisting technical teams to turn their requirements into the preparation of task orders/work packages while maintaining rolling revenue & profit forecasts reporting on project performance.
Engaged as the Director, Contracts and Commercial, my role entailed the leadership of contracts and commercial management of projects for the Expo Bureau during all relevant phases from procurement to contract close-out. I act as a central point of contact for package and projects issues by managing the commercial/contract administration function via liaison with other departments such as legal and finance to resolve all commercial and contract issues and to facilitate negotiation of client contract terms and conditions. I am responsible for the continuing development of Contract templates and the Contract Commercial Manual detailing policies, procedures and workflows with guidance notes for key processes such as contract admin, change control, cost management and procurement-planning/tendering processes.
Engaged as a Senior Contracts & Procurement Manager, I was responsible for the programme procurement processes from feasibility studies, procurement strategy, all the way through to tender evaluation and subsequent award. I established selection/pitch processes in alignment with the technical team and negotiated up to final authorization of contracts and purchase orders in accordance with the delegation of authority (DoA). My role enabled and ensured transparency of spend and drive for optimization of efficiencies (procedures and cost) in collaboration with the Finance function and related stakeholders. My role also had significant remit over the Contracts Management of existing Makah Public transport programme works.
Engaged as a Contracts & Claims Manager, I was responsible for the Commercial and Contractual running of various packages (mainly Civils and E&M) and the in depth research and subsequent production of prospective counter claims during the DLP against the projects main Contractor on behalf of the client, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). I ensured that commercial and contract issues are dealt with in accordance with the FIDIC conditions, negotiated close outs/final accounts and produced project team deliverables schedules while monitoring performance against these schedules and recommending corrective actions.
Engaged as a Contract Administrator within the Delivery Partner (CLM), I was responsible for the commercial running of various packages and procurement processes from tender through to final account. Site responsibilities included conducting the inspection of E&M, Civils/earthworks and structural works (steel and RC). I prepared and agreed contract documents interim valuations and final accounts as the client’s representative. The role also included weekly & monthly audit checks of the Contractor’s expenditure.
Engaged as a Project Quantity Surveyor my responsibilities included preparation of applications for payment, administration of subcontract packages, rigorous control daily of contractual correspondence due to the onerous nature if the NEC form of contract. I also Managed and controlled the change control procedure through the production of the Contractor’s quotations/communications while also liaising with the client’s representative to compile and maintain the liabilities registers.
Engaged as a site Quantity Surveyor I was tasked with production of bills of quantities, cost estimating for tender exercises, sub-contract document preparation, valuations and tax splits. I was also responsible for the preparation, valuation, processing of monthly payment certificates and re-measurement of completed works with subsequent agreement of final accounts with the sub-contractors.
Engaged as a Construction Intern I rotated under the various teams involved in areas such as structural repair and protection, post-tensioning reinforcement systems, strengthening systems. I assisted as requested in the project planning, organising, controlling, and reporting activities gaining an insight into the importance of time, cost, quality and contract administration.
