As part of my job responsibilities, I managed geological data for a project involving data acquisition and mapping. I was given several tasks to handle, which included the following:
• Contact the Manager for the concerned geological blocks to gather geological data in various formats such as geographic coordinates, small maps, hand-drawn data, and descriptive forms.
• Analyzing and processing the data according to geographic standards and converting it to geographical data.
• Checking data accuracy by meeting with concerned exploration block team leaders and seeking supervision from the Manager of Exploration.
• Conducting hydrological analysis and modelling, topographical mapping, and analysis using DEM data.
• Eliminating data overlapping errors and generating accurate geological data.
• Differentiating geological data based on spatial data types such as points, lines, and polygons.
• Creating structural geology maps for the concerned geological exploration block using refined and accurate fieldwork data.
• Merging data from all geological exploration blocks to final GIS layers of interest.
