While working with their centerlized team, responsible for the enterprise-wide IT services, my achievements have been the followings:
- Leading DBA and Linux admins functions in my department.
- Did the Oracle EBS upgrade from 11.5.8 to 11.5.10.2 to 12.0.6 to 12.1.1 in different phases as per the business requirements.
- Currently, leading all the IT projects involving the database admin. Such projects include the upgrades, migrations, etc.
- Providing the 2nd & 3rd level support to all Savola Business Units. This includes savola's all main sectors.
- Providing 1st level support to all the new implementation projects. Working closely with the implementors. Doing tasks technically as well as by all the necessary communications & coordinations through my team, to deliver the requirements as needed by the business.
- Did the unix to linux migration for Oracle EBS. This includes the application migration as well as the database.
- For Savola's retail sector (Panda), migrated their 11i EBS instance from Unix to Linux and upgraded this instance from 11.5.7 to 11.5.10.2 and then to 12.1.3.
- Day-to-Day monitoring and performance tunings of the production systems. Balancing the workload to balance the system performance.
- Train the Junior team members.
- As a recognition of my hardword and professional support provided on consistent basis, won the IT award 2010 in the category under "Maximizing the return on ERP".
- Active Reporting to the management and proactively planning for enhancement and issue resolutions.
- Upgraded the EBS 12.0.6 to 12.1.3 in Savola Iran and trained their new junior team of DBAs.
Working with AOT for a short period, did the following major projects/tasks:
- A sophisticated EBS installation at mobily telecom, a known name in telecom in Saudia. This intallation included a 6-server install with RAC, PCP, application servers redundancy with Load Balancer. I was the main DBA with all the day-to-day communication with the on-site people.
- Upgraded EBS 11.5.4 to 11.5.8 in Al-Hukair company. They were using windows operating system to host their ERP.
- Upgraded EBS 11.5.4 11.5.9 in saudi bin laden (operations & maintenance). In addition, added NLS arabic as additional language, upgraded their database from 8.1.5 to 8.1.7. Enabled Audit Trail in their HRMS system. They are using their oracle EBS application server on windows OS and DB on HP-UX.
- Did a thorough health-check of production databases at STC, head office, Riyadh.
HOD is a software house and Oracle's Business partner. HOD is engaged in turnkey IT solutions. My core duty was to be part of "Design" phase of IT projects, providing APPS DBA/OS support.
1. Upgrades of Oracle EBS & DBs:
- Upgraded Oracle EBS from 10.6 to 10.7 and later to 11.5.9 in Naghi Group.
- Fresh install of EBS 11.0 and later a Cross-platform upgrade of EBS 11.0.3 to 11.5.7 with NLS and addition of new products, in Jamjoom Pharma.
- Upgraded EBS from 11.0.3 to 11.5.9 in Arabian Cement Co.
- Database upgrades - 7.3, 8i & 9i in AFS, JP, IIRO.
- Upgraded Oracle EBS11i 11.5.7 to 11.5.9 in IIRO.
2. Migrations of oracle products:
- At Arabian Cement, migrated the DB tier of EBS 11i from HP-UX to Redhat linux
- At King Abdul Aziz Hospital, migrated SQL*Forms/RPT's from DG m88k to Developer 6.0 on DG (Intel)
- At Al-Watan Newspaper, migrated Oracle products from older Sun servers to newer ones.
3. Installations of EBS & DBs
Installed EBS 10.7, 11, 11.5.3, 115.4, 11.5.7, 11.5.9 and DBs for HOD customers:
- AFS (HP 9000 L-Class, rp5470/hp-ux)
- JP (SunFire 440, 280R/Solaris Sparc)
- Tusdeer (HP Netserver 4r/Windows NT 4.0)
- Sleephigh (Sun Enterprise 450/Solaris 8)
- Abdullatif Jameel - Toyota ( IBM/aix)
- Ta'jeer Company - IBM/aix
- Al-Addilah Est., - HP9000/hp-ux
- Al-Hera Hospital, - HP Net Server/ Windows 2000
- About all HOD customers, - installed NLS arabic in EBS and resolved arabic printing issues using PASTA in 11.
4. Unix/Linux/Win:
At HOD, completed my basic & admin training in Unix (HP-UX) conducted by HP and worked in AFS (on HOD's behalf) as Unix Admin.
This includes install & upgrades of HP-UX. Concepts & usage of disk space like VG, LV, LVM, file systems, etc. Handling unix environment, users, groups. Unix shell scripting, developed automated backup routine that used TAR to backup. Experties in using many useful unix/linux concepts & commands.
HMA is a shared registrar company. I started my career with HMA. In this role, I was trained on-job in programming using Foxpro. My duties were to act as a shared resource for IT and their SHARES department dealing in Shares Management System. Using foxpro, I coded a system “Billing Management System”, which was a “Receivables” system, keeping track of HMA clients ledgers and invoice printings, etc.
This is an ICT-based diploma. The training and coaching was conducted at "Petroman Training Institute, Lahore, which is affiliated with the Punjab Board of Technical Education, Lahore, Pakistan (fully govt body). DCA (Diploma in Computer Applications) Subjects Studied & exam passed for: Computer Concepts Dos Xenix Principles of Accounting System Analysis & Design Cobol Dbase-3+ Wordstar Lotus-123 Basic Language Project Presentation (I presented the "Billing Management System" that i coded for HMA, while working with them)
Major subjects studied: Mathematics A course, Mathematics B course, Statistics This bachelor degree is a 2-year bachelor course that is due after 12 academic years. The pre-requisite to be qualified for this course as per the academic system in pakistan is: 1. 10 years in primary & high school (Matriculation) 2. 02 years in college to reach to the intermediate level (F. Sc) 3. This bachelor degree for a duration of 2 years (B.Sc)
