Within my short term at Neptune, I have become a second primary engineer for a national non-profit health care, research and awareness company with over 1200 users at over 40 sites connected by a Citrix environment located in a second-tier data centre.

As a systems engineer, I do not support the above-mentioned customer only but also responsible for other BAU online support from NOC for the following products and technologies:

Active Directory, Group Policy, Backups (VEEAM and Shadow Protect), VMWare VSphere, DNS, Exchange 2010/2013, Office 365/Google Apps, Windows Servers 2008/2012 R2, File Clusters, etc. In short, I am required to wear multiple hats.

Key Responsibilities

• Primary purpose of my role is to manage day-to-day infrastructure related issue like servers, services, and respond accordingly to 3rd level escalated tickets
• Managing Windows Servers such as Domain Controllers, Split-brain DNS, SCCM, SCOM, Clustered File Servers, and centralised logging servers in a complex computing environment
• Successfully deployed SCOM 2012 R2 and SCCM 2012 R2 on campus according to schedule
• Successfully project managed and migrated a physical file fail-over clusters to virtual infrastructure (VMware) along with SAN LUNs and upgraded Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers to 2012 R2 including DNS, DHCP, and time server
• Managing all production control, disaster recovery plans (DR) and business continuity plans (BCP), networking protocols, computer operations, and supporting the operating systems
• Completing reports and summaries for internal users including status update and tracking reports, progress summaries, and system utilisation reports to appropriate stakeholders

• Day-to-day preventative maintenance tasks on all IT infrastructure in order to successfully meet our internal user specifications, industry regulations BOP's
• Deployed Endpoint protection system for anti-virus and anti-malware using Microsoft System Centre Endpoint Protection (SCEP) and Kaspersky Enterprise for Servers
• Built a centralised logging infrastructure based on open-source ELK stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Primary purpose of my role was to act as the key point of escalation for all SCOM / SCCM service desk management issues providing Level 1 and Level 2 support
• Resolving all complex issues raised on respected servers including basic operating system issues too accordingly to agreed contractual agreements made, including SLA’s and KPI’s
• Working in a global follow the sun 24/7 business operations environment and providing out of office IT support where required promptly react to business needs at all times
• Provided 2nd and 3rd level support for System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM) 2007 that monitors 3, 500 servers worldwide managing business stakeholder expectations at all times
• Delivering maximum availability on site performance and managing all security protocols to the IS business applications on site whilst engaging with business stakeholders each day
• Coordinated a complex customised in-house developed procedures, scripts, and management packs for SCOM that was being used to monitor 3, 500 servers worldwide for Phillip Morris global IT infrastructure business units and groups.

• Purpose of my role was to provide comprehensive technical IT and Systems support via phone and email to resolve issues raised in a timely and professional manner
• Day to day activities includes escalation and closure of work tickets, creating new tickets, and removing terminated employees access for Texas A&M internal and external IT users
• Working in line with agreed SLA’s and KPI’s set across the University Campus
• Installed and configured File/Print servers with network security whilst also managing and maintaining our customised software solutions on site and designed data backup and restore of data after verification on weekly basis managing all DR and BCP plans
• Delivered successful IT Support training sessions to IT users on application enhancements
• Ensuring systems and sub-systems interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including desktops, laptops, file servers, email servers, application servers and administrative systems
• Providing level 2/3 support in complex technical environment that comprised 700+ users, a state of the art data centre and Enterprise domain that included 100 or more internal Wintel Servers, 1200 desktop and laptop systems, 60+ multi-function network printers
• Project managed the campus-wide deployment of Windows 7, Office 2007 upgrade project from concept to handover documentation stage, the first campus to complete this large-scale infrastructure program of works across campus
• Analysed, reviewed and rewrote the University standard operating environment (SOE) procedures for desktop, and laptop systems while deploying Windows 7 project on time.
• Successfully installed, deployed and maintained the new Windows 2008 R2 server with PCounter on time, in budget gaining significant stakeholder recognition of my timely work.
