(Surat), India \[Department- Central Engineering Services\] \[since Jul, 2011\] (Primary role is to perform regular plant inspections and do failure analysis which are mechanical and chemical in nature and suggest ways of improvement to prevent frequent failure occurrences).
Some areas of exposure are:
Testing of hardness by equotip portable hardness tester, material identification by Positive Material Identification, feroxyl test, X-Ray radiography, Dye Penetrant Inspection etc.
Developing failure reports (FAR), History Updating.
Performing inspection of welds by DPT,
Internal inspection & hydro-testing of static equipments.
Proactive inspection rounds in plant for external integrity of pipelines and equipments based on checklists.
Schedule inspection of static equipments & storage tanks in petrochemical complex and updating the details in SAP.
Exposure to Hydrostatic and Pneumatic Tests, Equipment, NDT (RT, UT, DPT & MPT), etc.
Regular inspection of: Vessels, Columns, Heat Exchangers, Tanks, Pipelines, Reactors, Furnace, Absorber etc.
Identifying welding defects either by visual Inspection or by NDT (DPT).
Other highlights/Knowledge of processes:
Efficiently worked on 4 Annual Shutdowns at various plants (PP, Cracker, VCM and PVC) of the complex.
Procedure and checklist for corrosion under insulation (CUI) developed along with the team and inspection done for abnormality identification.
Knowledge of performing mechanical testing like Tensile test, charpy impact test etc.
Failure investigation of industrial & oil field components and preparing reports with photographic documentation, technical findings, discussion and conclusion.
Knowledge of Processes such as PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treatment), Stress relieving etc.
Also basic concepts and good knowledge of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), X Ray Diffraction (XRD) etc. Equipments handled: Hardness testing machines (Rockwell, Vickers, Brinell hardness testing machine).
