Emergency physician, manage patients walked into the ER door until go home or being admitted in the hospital. Take care of both minor & major problems, including trauma, cardiac arrest etc.
Most of the time worked as sole physician, and worked as a partner with another physician.Supervision to the nursing and other staffs working in the ER. Manage the minor injury like lacerations, foreign body removal, fracture reduction and stabilization, correction of dislocations, Manage the gynecological problems, like bleeding, infections etc.
Most of the patients are discharged with advice, but some admitted to the hospitals, need discussions and consultations with attending physicians with orders written to go the floor. Some patients need transfer to the specialized centers for immediate care, discussion with physicians of the other hospitals and arrange transportation after stabilizing the patients. Difficult cases of cardiac arrhythmia treated along with cardiologists on call.

Finished the curriculum,took the test but failed to obtained the diploma. Moved to USA in the September 1986. Getting to this highly competitive domain of surgery is itself an honor. As I entered M.Ch as a practicing surgeon , I was not offered any scholarship. I did lot of challenging jobs in tenure of M.Ch at NRS Medical College. Since 1981, my name and fame went on after the grand success of repair of Oesophageal Atresia and for recognition I admitted to M.Ch.Quite a good number of cases of pediatric surgical cases I managed and presented in the conferences and also published in the journals. I was invited in "International Esophageal Week at Munich "in 1986 elaborating the successful repair after almost 20yrs in Calcutta, India. My specialty was foreign body removal from any part of the body except trachea-bronchial tree.

Successfully entered in Master of Surgery (MS) through a written and oral exam is definitely an honor, only 10 seats in Calcutta University . Though training in various branches of surgery, hands on training, managing the assigned cases from admission to discharge and also follow up in the out patients department. Teach the junior house- staffs, students and also nursing staffs and students. Present interesting cases in rounds and grand rounds to share with other colleagues. Write a dissertation or thesis through out the years and submitted before obtain the degree. Study the recent advances in surgery and discuss with classmates and teacher(guide). Sometime for additional training one has to station in another hospital for a period of time. Finally to graduate need to pass both written and oral examination.

Graduated from Calcutta University in 1976,high score in medicine & surgery. We are supposed to graduate in the year 1973, but because of Naxalites movements in West Bengal in that time was so intense every examinations from Calcutta University was balked .After series of negotiations and meetings in the year of 1975 the final examinations were finished. During the gap period we were engaged in the clinical rotation in the various branches of medicine. The MBBS curriculum almost covers every subjects recommended by WHO , some subjects are over emphasized like Organic chemistry , Anatomy etc. Every subject has both written and oral examinations, one has to pass both to move to to the next year. Final one ,medicine,surgery,obstetrics& gynecology, Ophthalmology,Otorhinolaryngology.
