* As Senior Editor of The Daily Star newspaper, I oversaw the running of the paper, ensuring a smooth work flow and guaranteeing an excellent newspaper for the following morning.
Journalist/Editor/Proofreader
* As both writer and editor, I was responsible for the local pages (pages 1-5) and the Op/Ed pages. Duties also included writing daily articles on a variety of subjects - including a weekly movie review - interviewing prominent local personalities, such as ambassadors, politicians, entertainers and sports figures, and attending functions, benefits and press conferences both locally and out of the country. Also, re-writing, proof-reading and editing.
* Aided in the start-up of this English-language newspaper in Kuwait.
* Reported on a wide variety of issues, including politics, economy, entertainment and local news.
* Suggested new methods and ideas which resulted in higher sales of newspaper.
* Was responsible for the start-up of a monthly magazine insert, Oasis, that distributed with the newspaper.
* Maintained the office through administrative skills, including emailing, typing, letter-writing, answering multi-lined telephones; working the PC, fax machine, photocopier, etc.
* Position eventually became that of a ‘research assistant, ’ where I assisted the lawyers in the research of both current and previous cases.
