1) Project ITS301: Operations of Signalised Traffic Junctions at Dubai Tram.
• Carry out daily site surveys to find out flaws in the traffic junctions as per the SOP.
• Conduct traffic study and propose improvements along a corridor to optimize the traffic flow.
• Liaise with the local authorities in case of any incidents as per the SOP.
• Jointly work with the consultants to propose and implement changes to the local authorities relating to the operations
2) Project R999/3 Dubai Water Canal.
• Site supervision and coordination of scheduled activities on site with the Sub Contractors.
• Carrying out surveys to check on the progress of the project & for the preparation of Site Acceptance Test (SAT) Reports, based on activities completed like installation of devices, Electrical Cable terminations, Data cable termination with the approved shop drawings.
• Preparation of RFIs based on the completion of any site activities like installations, testing and commissioning & carrying out the inspection along with the consultants & Client.
A part of INDEVCO group USA, a manufacturing company involved in production of paperboard and flexible packaging for foodstuffs, pharmaceutical, household and various other sectors. Work during the internship involved :
1) Optimising the complete factory lighting system with the aim to make it cost efficient.
Proposed to change the existing normal lights, to more efficient LED lights, thereby forecasting yearly electricity saving by 50% through data obtained. Also predicted the Return of Investment for this project to be 24 months period. Also LED being maintenance free, it was predicted that each technician, annually, would be saving at least 1 working hour, which could be instead devoted in other maintenance work thereby increasing workers efficiency and the factory's yearly output.
2) Organising the machine spare parts in a more optimised and orderly fashion by using LATCH (Location, Alphabet, Time, Category, Hierarchy) method of organisation
Did the following projects during my internship at Twinvey Electrical Consultancy, Dubai :
1. Load Flow Studies
Basic study on the Load Flow in the industrial and Residential sectors, implication and importance of Power Factor economically and technically . Case study on Load flow with the help of an actual Single Line Diagram of a 11kV substation
2. Voltage Drop Calculations
Brief overview on the implications of voltage drop, definitions and technical meaning . Detailed study on the importance of sizing and protection of the conductors required to carry different loads at different environmental conditions with the help of a simple case study
3. Design of Earthing Systems
A detailed study on the needs and importance of an earthing systems for residential buildings, Power station, substations, factories, etc . Study on the various design parameters used while designing an earthing system, steps and procedures required while designing an earthing system including soil resistivity measurements, installation of bare copper mesh in the building foundations including the installations of earth wires. Step and touch voltage calculations, ground rods design. The study was carried out with a practical real life cases
