• Managing IT related projects in different industries (e.g. Aramco, SABIC, Saudi Electric Company (SEC), Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery (SASREF), AlAfandi, MACDMC, Dresser-Rand, Tasnee, GCCIA, National Grid, TASNEE, SIPCHEM and more)
• Handling implementation, network design, procurement, preventive maintenance, scheduling, cost & billing planning, budgeting, quality management etc.
• Responsibilities and tasks include the following
-Risk management; planning action plans for foreseen risks, to avoid them occurring
-Resources management; manage project resources and allocate budgets
-Procurement management; manage purchases related to each project and handling delivery
-Quality Management; planning and monitoring performance and applying improvements to achieve customer standards
-Manage the design and implement network solutions. E.g. LLD’s, NRFU etc.
-Manage and prepare customer and internal reporting
-Action plan and time manage network devices replacement and upgrades
-Manage change requests to have additional requirements implemented
• AlMajdouie IPT Upgrade
- Managing a complete phase out of current 3Com Telephony system, to Cisco UC solution, along with add on integration features, at 57 sites for AlMajdouie
-Integration with several add on features, e.g. XML, EasiSMS, RightFax, Billing system, etc.
• Aramco UCS Project…
-Managing an Unified Communication Server installation at Aramco to house all IPT solutions. Applying Aramco practices to implement the UCS solution to house all Cisco Call Centers and IPT systems.
-Managing the design, procurement, implementation and commissioning phases to achieve a result as per Aramco acceptance criteria.
-Managing technicians in an ongoing service for 1000+ network nodes and the fiber back bone. Scheduling Preventive Maintenance for the network to maintain standards.
• SABIC Call Center Upgrade and Maintenance Project…
-Managing an upgrade for an in production CISCO express call center. Call center serves country wide employees within all departments of the company. The project involved upgrading to CISCO UCCX 8.5 to be installed on CISCO UCS blade servers.
-CISCO Call Center to be integrated with several add on features, examples of iVision, VPI etc., achieve SABIC requirements for the express call center.
• Saudi Electric Company (SEC) IPT Upgrade Project…
-Upgrading 2000+ employees from Alcatel/Nortel PBX to CISCO IPT technology. System integrated with the current Nortel CS1000M Multi Group system
-Project included planning and managing the installation of the following hardware/software; UCS servers, CISCO C3945E Voice Gateways, CICSO VG224 Analogue Voice Gateways, Unity Servers, CUCM.
• National Grid (NG) Wireless Mesh POC Project
-Managing a proof of concept project with SEC, where implementation was done to cover several sites via wireless mesh technology, using Cisco products. The project involved in creating a proposal to the company, detailed Low Level Design, procurement off all the network products, installation and full testing of the concept.
-Project’s main scope was to achieve full network coverage for several sites (3-10km range) via wireless mesh. Light weight access points managed by a central Wireless Controller to manage all technologies; IPT, Data, video, tele-presence, IPIC’s, etc., were to be demonstrated providing full compatibility.
• Dresser-Rand Project
-Implementing a new network infrastructure at Dammam Industrial City, for a newly built site. Tier 4 Data Center, covering the whole area with Wireless Coverage using CAP2600 Access Points and CT2500 Wireless LAN Controller. C3750 Core Switches, ASA5500 Series Firewalls and IPT are all part of the network scope included in the implementation…
• Tasnee Project
-Data Center Upgrade involving installation of Nexus Distribution Switches and Core Switches Upgrade
-ISE Security Appliance implementation for 5k users, covering the HQ and remote sites
• Trouble shooting network problems in the newly implemented high technology network. Network included 1000+ access switches, 10+ CISCO 4510 aggregator switches for FTTH, 60 Core CISCO 6500 routers, WAP, IP Clocks.
• Working on Layer 2 and Layer 3 network devices (CISCO 2960, 3560, 3750, 4500, 6500) applying appropriate configuration to get the network and its connected devices to operate accordingly.
• Involved in network infrastructure design, implementation and commissioning to achieve expansion of the network, either for installation on the Layer 3 level, or Layers 2 additions.
• Leader of Level 1 engineers
-Manage the tasks and duties, for level 1 network engineers. Provide remote support when required to coordinate to resolve customer requests. Handling implementation an configuration for new CISCO 3560, 3750 access switches.
-Producing and maintaining reports documenting the team’s performance.
Technical support and customer services for Vodafone UK (outsourcing). Trouble-shooting basic network problems. Dealing with customer requests on resolving issues related to their mobile accounts.
I gained an idea of the basic operational system and control engineering of the company. Also worked with configuring the networking and IT department of the company.
2:1 with Honors; rated Very Good with Honors. Received a Beacon Scholarship for the University of Cambridge and The British Council of Egypt to sponsor my study at the UK.
