Legal and Contracts Manager at Michael Page
  • United Kingdom
  • My current job since June 2010

As one of only four authorised singatories in the company, I have drafted, reviewed and negotiated a great many high value agreements; I have a sound understanding of both services and good contracts, as well as having engineered a number of contracts management protocols that have resulted in both more efficient project structures and higher rates on work than were previously being procured.

I manage contentious matters as well as revising and subsequently managing the operational protocols and processes. My endeavours have, among other things, produced a fall in the number of claims made against Michael Page International (with the number of successful claims reduced to zero, along with associated legal costs) and a decrease in the time recruitment consultants have to spend on administrative matters, further producing both significant cost savings and offering up new revenue streams.

I am also responsible for providing legal advice to the various disciplines within the Michael Page International group. This includes ad-hoc legal advice (which often requires me to undertake legal research) as well as being responsible for weekly and monthly legal updates to the company. I have also presented various workshops, dealing with specific areas of law (such as the Agency Worker Regulations and the Bribery Act), as well as presenting legal workshops across the country to explain the latest updates in law and the function of the Legal Department.
