1. In-depth examination of the scientific process of research as it relates to nursing and health care; providing the necessary knowledge and skills for identification of nursing researchable problems, critical appraisal of research studies; evaluating the adequacy of research findings in terms of their merits and potential for utilization in practice through applying approaches of evidence-based practice. 2. Focuses on a holistic and humanistic framework of caring with emphasize on critical thinking, and nursing practice competencies. It progresses from the study of individuals and groups experiencing high-level wellness to variations in wellness experiences. Continuing themes of growth and development across the life span, therapeutic communications, nutrition, social, cultural, racial and ethnic dimensions, client advocacy, teaching, and legal and ethical standards are explored. Emphases are placed on counseling and personal self-awareness and self-growth. Traditional psychotherapeutic and integrative health therapies are addressed. 3. Methods by which health organizations are managed and financed to deliver health care. Various concepts, processes and methods of leadership and management needed to manage health care systems; theories, development, and evaluation of health policy care are other milestones of this course. Public policies that have supported health service system on the national and regional and international levels will be integrated throughout the course. 4. Applying ethical principles and theories while taking into consideration challenges facing the health care delivery system are the major emphases of this course. Legal factors are examined in relation to their impact on ethical decisions and ethical dilemmas are viewed in the context of ethical decision-making frameworks. Changes in health care are examined for their influences on nurse specialists as ethical practitioners.
