I worked as Refinery process engineer for more than 13 years for Khartoum Refinery Co ltd, firstly I worked in operation department about two years then I join technical service department. During this period I was responsible for Diesel Hydrotreater unit, Catalytic Reforming unit and Fluid Catalytic Cracking unit. Main duties is to provide technical support during plant Commissioning, plant start up & shutdown, monitor plant performance, troubleshot process problems, conduct bottleneck study, provides input for turnaround plan, perform process optimization study using simulation, plant modification study, risk assessment and hazop study, energy conservation and profit improvement study.
Experience Details
•Performs a variety of process engineering duties in the plant
•Prepares daily performance summaries to monitor plant performance. Includes studying laboratory test reports, standard log sheets and other daily operating activities reports
•Expert in refinery operation startup, shutdown, emergency and troubleshooting
•Update and review operating procedures and process envelopes for many refinery units
•Good experience in assessment of process units performance, highlighting abnormalities and recommending corrective actions
•Have good experience in optimizing the Refinery units to ensure optimum yields and minimum consumption of chemicals & energy and undertakes loss prevention related to improve operating efficiency of plants in order to achieve best economic result.
•Deal with too many process-related problems, unit constrain and plans suitable cost effective solutions
•Identify and study many potential improvement opportunity for improving refining margin
• Reviews many plant modifications, tests new chemicals
•Prepares data for new projects and major revamps
•Plans regeneration of catalysts and test runs as required
•Provide technical input for defining turnaround scope
•Supervise plate heat exchanger and Air cooler chemical cleaning
• Reviews existing technology and develops case for revamp and expansion plans or installation of new facilities to achieve overall improvement in plant performance and productivity.
•Identify potential process hazard, risk assessment and job safety analysis.
•Support refinery process safety management activities
•Actively participate in the profit improvement program, project steering teams, task force teams and incident investigation committees.
•Worked with a Joint Commissioning Team (JCT) comprising of Axens, RIPP, Sinopec and KRC to commission & startup of CCR & DHT unit, KRC Expansion-I
•Performed Assessment study on the impacts of Nile blend crude oil quality changes on Khartoum refinery operation, developing detailed case study for different mitigation measures (Calcium removal, Material upgrading, High temperature corrosion inhibitor, RFCC catalyst change out)
•Conducting study on possibility of processing difference types of crude oil in Khartoum refinery, predicting yields, products quality & impact on operation
•RFCC optimization study to cope with feed quality changes
•perform Study of RFCC Fractionators top cooling system modification
•Perform LPG Maximization study in FCC unit
•In charge of new catalyst selection & evaluation for 1.2 MMT/a DHT unit (2010)
